[RELz] Fake Patch!

Post » Fri Apr 01, 2011 3:34 pm

Well, to get the DLC's you might need to patch to 1.1.0.35 to use LIVE for acquiring O:A and to 1.4.0.6 to get The Pitt and not for changes to Fallout itself, but to GFWL. After acquiring them though, you can revert back to 1.0.0.15 and everything should work out.

We just might be able to DL The Pitt so long as the 1.4.0.6 changes are applied to LIVE even having reverted to 1.0.0.15, as I doubt the ability to purchase DLC has anything to do with your Fallout3.exe version... We'll see soon enough... O_O

this is true, I Dl'd the pitt through the gfwl in program files, didnt know about the patch, then I patched, so it doesnt check

hello i believe that this fake patch does not work with the DLC.

I updated to 1.4 (official), downloaded the pitt, and replaced the exe and esm with the 1.0xxx ones (sorry cant remember). I then added the bsa's to the archives.

However, this method seem to not work as alot of problems appear.

Here are the ones i have found::

Auto axe is missing its blade, is invisible in first person, and does not make the buzzing sound when attacking.

Pitt specific music and atmospheric sounds do not play, such as the hissing of molten steel in the mill or the clanning of distant metals in the steel yard.

Sticking with 1.4 official seems to fix all these problems. Of course, Vats seems to be really bad when targeting trogs.

First if you check back a 3 or 4 posts before yours, you'll see that it does work.
second, i think you made a mistake...
The exe that you replace needs to be v1.0.0.15
The esm needs to be the one included in the fakePatch download (it's basically v1.0.0.46)
can't be sure...because you don't remember.

I'd suggest trying again but this time double-check that you follow the instructions in the OP fully...I think you'll find it's worth the effort for a fully functional VATS system

[EDIT] OK I'm sorry, it may not be you or Fake Patch, apparently (not seen it confirmed) both version of 'The Pitt' (x-box & PC) got pulled due to corruptions.

The Fake Patch plugin only contains the records which were edited after 1.0.0.15 to bridge the gap to 1.4.0.6. Thanks for helping others with pointers in my absence.:)

/me is pissed.

I bought FO3 on Steam, and decided to reinstall FO3 to use this wicked-awesome mod. Turns out that, apparently, Steam only installs the most up-to-date version of FO3 (and, presumably, any other games), meaning I can't get a fresh 1.0 install to patch to 1.0.0.15, and there's no way for me to revert to 1.0.0.15 from a 1.4.0.6 install.

Which means I'm stuck with the broken VATS until gamesas decides to stop making/releasing useless Achievement patches and start making/releasing patches that actually, y'know, fix [censored] what's been broken (as opposed to breaking [censored] what's been working since release).

I just registered to say "thanks".

Like a few others, I had to install FOSE in order to get the DLC to work. I don't care for G4WL or achievements anyway, so there's no downside to this as far as I'm concerned. I'd still like to see an official VATs fix, but I'll definitely be using this until then ;)

Hey Justin, you may want to start a new thread because this one has exceeded 200 posts and will be closed as soon as a mod notices it.

http://files.filefront.com/Fallout3exe+v100157z/;13511896;/fileinfo.html You'll potentially have issues with getting your mouse to respond using that .exe with a mismatched .esm, but your VATS will work. :)

@Madcat: I've already backed up the OP on a text doc, so they can lock it whenever.
