Do you guys listen to other music while you play?

Post » Sun May 23, 2010 11:30 pm

On Either New Vegas or Fallout 3. I have all 5 Dirty Harry movie soundtracks on shuffle most of the time. It's either that, or I'll throw on some Ennio Morricone for a true western feel. Do you guys do anything like this?

Here's to You is an amazing song from Ennio Morricone.

Anyways I have a mixed soundtrack of Fallout 3 and NV with some Johnny Cash, Elvis, and other personal favorites. It really sets the mood.

If I listen to music it tends to be http://www.deezer.com/en/music/radios or http://somafm.com/ but more often I listen to podcasts or drama/comedy because them ending makes me quit the game for a bit.

I also listen to quite a bit of Johnny Cash when playing. My favorite song to listen to during a particularly tension-filled moment is Cash's rendition of "Big Iron". I'm not too fond of the original as it's a bit too cheery. His version is down right epic, though. Fits the story told in the song quite well.

If my computer has music on while starting up New Vegas I usually leave it on.
Most regularly my playlist consists of Veronica Maggio, Kid Cudi, The Automatic, Kylie Minogue, Jamie T, Blur and Scissor Sisters.
As to specific music for the Fallout mood?
Nah, sometimes I put on FO1/2 soundtrack and turn the music on FNV down and put it on a loop.
Other than that I don't really have anything special I put on for the Fallout mood.

Unless it is in the game no and i used to listen to the in game radio but after 5 plays i have heard the songs enough. No i just enjoy the silence and the mood music the game uses to provide that feeling of desolation. It was especailly creepy in Dead Money almost as bad as listening to a R.E.M. album where thier music is so depressing i want to call my mom and cry in the phone, boo hoo life is so hard sob whine.

in FO3 I had music on constantly. Couldn't play it without it.

In New Vegas, the music got old quick... besides, by the time you get to the Strip it's better to turn the radio off anyway, cos then you can soak up the crowd noise and radios and general ambience, and having the PipBoy radio on detracts from that. Ambience is much better than Radio in New Vegas, imo

Yeah, I just keep the radio off and play that way. The soundscape and ambience in New Vegas is excellent.

With the music off I always hear music from Oblivion. I'm not sure if I imagine it or if it's really there (hoping the latter). I installed the CONELRAD radio mod a while ago. That was awesome for a long while; they use old radio ads about the "Duck and Cover" approach to avoiding... the nuclear holocaust.

Yes, yes I do.
First listened to the game music/radio, then when I tired of that I muted those. Sometimes I play with no music, sometimes I just play fave mp3's of the day. No related theme/mood so no list.

This^. I usually listen to Rage Against The Machine or Metallica. If I want to get a calmer feeling I turn on the GTA 3 theme song classy yet good.

My first playthrough I played the in game music constantly...now I fire up the 1950's style pipe that I got from "the big store" and play the music during a break, mainly to contemplate heavily on the Fallout universe.

I miss 3 Dog, he is much more fun to listen to. Furthermore, there were much more content from 3-Dog's radio.

Nope. I don't use the pip-boy radio or listen to any music on my computer. I really, really dig the ambient music that plays throughout the game. Sometimes though when a location has a radio I'll stick around and listen to a couple of songs. Make it as some sort of "break" for my character from traveling the wastes. Stay up to date on the news in the Mojave and relax with some tunes. Then move on with only the sound of the wind to greet me. I'm not really one to throw around the word "immersion" (since that word really annoys me for some reason) but having music on my computer play really disconnects me from the game. I find the sound of the Mojave wind, birds chirping, crickets and wolves howling at night draws me more into the world.
