Is there anyway to get Lucky without high lockpick?

Post » Sat May 29, 2010 6:50 am

I play a Guns character and I've never bothered with Lockpick, so I've never had Lucky. I'm all for unique weapons and I was wondering if telling Rex to fetch a weapon may work.

Nope, either console commands, a 75 Lockpick skill, or a 55 lockpick skill and a Locksmith Readers magazine with the Comprehension perk. If you can not/will not do any of these, that's your problem then.

I thought in F3 you could use Dogmeat to get items stashed away in locked things.....

I don't think there are any Lockpick +5 armor items so you'll need 75 lockpick or 55 with Comprehension. You could use Mentats but I think it's only +1 in Perception.

vault utility jumpsuits give u +5 lockpick...., u can also raise lockpick by raising perception with party time mentats(or regular if u havent made any), coyote tobacco chew or a plain ol cowboy hat in addition to locksmiths reader

Mentats actually stacks with party time mentats. Of course the bonus to lockpick given by extra perception only works as long as you aren't already at or close to 10 for that special stat.

no matter what character you play, you should always raise your lockpick to AT LEAST 80

......Or even better, 75. Deal with anything that lowers your perception properly.

Depends how low your perception is. With a 6 perception you can hit 75 with:

Mentats (+4), Party Time Mentants(+4), Vault 3 Repair Clothes (+5), Lock Pick Mag (+20) = + 33. So an easy open with a 42 skill.

Throw in two super easy to get Tumblers Today Skill Books (+8) you can get lucky with a 34 skill
