How to rotate your view in 3rd person?

Post » Sun May 30, 2010 11:52 pm

Ok, so I was spoiled in MMO's and other 3rd person games, by being able to rotate your view so you can see yourself from any angle- front, back, side, whatever. And I know I've seen plenty of vids and screenshots showing this kind of rotatable viewing... so how come I can't figure out how to do it myself? What's the trick? What keyboard and/or mouseclicking gymnastics are required, to be able to do this? Stumped...

D'oh.

Gotta love the unintuitiveness of so much of the default game controls. And no mention at all of these little hidden features in any kind of included instructions, that I've ever seen. Hell, it took me forever to figure out you could hold down the pip boy button (for a rather l o n g time...) to get a flashlight

Because the 3D view button obviously shouldn't be the button for moving the 3D view! Oh heavens no, it is so simple and unintuitive!

It may seem obvious once *you know about it*, but with no instructions anywhere saying that's what to do, it is something less than obvious to a normal person. Face it, their control scheme svcks, and the controls documentation svcks even worse. Damn console-happy crap. And you can't even remap key things like the weapons keys. From a controls intelligence and ease-of-use scale, it's one of the worst games I've ever played. Luckily, the game itself makes up for the cruddy controls.
