Biggest regret about Fallout 3 series?

Post » Tue Jun 01, 2010 4:29 am

For me:

1.Third person animation is not nearly as good as in Mass Effect 2 and Resident Evil 5

2.First person animations of weapons is not nearly as good as in most FPS games, even Killing Floor has far superior weapon animations, not to mention MW2 or Crysis 2 with a whole range of animations related to your movement.

If just those 2 things would be fixed it would be perfect!

It is the Fallout series, after Fallout, as in Fallout 1. Fallout 3 was not the first game in the series, it was the THIRD.

LOL, don't be so clueless, everything before Fallout 3 is completely irrelevant.

I was hoping it will have superb procedural animations like in Rage, but it doesn't look like it will...

Okay, NO. I can deal with people saying that they don't like them, BUT DONT YOU DAMN SAY THAT THE ROOTS OF THE SERIES ARE IRRELEVANT. They started the series, without them, THE SERIES IS NOTHING.

Calling people a troll isn't allowed, and i will be damned and fed to the [censored] dogs if i am going to let some punk say that the original classic Fallouts are irrelevant, because to them there is some [censored] due respect.

You may not be allowed to call people trolls, but that doesn't really mean you can't recognise them. Given he's started a thread comparing the graphics quality of a 2008 open-world RPG with some 2010 set-piece TPS/FPSes, he's obviously not angling for actual discussion.

I think he might be calling the older games irrelevant because, well, gameplay wise, they ARE irrelevant. Game play wise and mechanics wise, it's all Fallout 3. The guy could just be trolling, but this is what I'm getting out of this.

PS:Storywise and lore wise, they are relevant

The roots of anything good are never irrelevant, if the roots of trees were gone, the trees would [censored] fall over and you'd get bloody mudslides, if the bases of buildings were [censored] irrelevant, then we'd have a real time during earthquakes, wouldn't we?

The roots of anything good are NEVER irrelevant, because without those roots, there is nothing to support the new, and I'd be you'd be really happy if there were no more Fallout 3 games, wouldn't you, damn it.

@Oreo That may be true, but i wasn't talking about the mechanics, was I? I was talking about the proper title of the series, which is rightfully set in place by the original Fallout, because that is what started the series, regardless of anything else, it started it, and the series is named after it.

Personally I thought he ment it was irrelevant because the first two games weren't in a fps veiw. Plus hes only complaining about gun motion of the fallout 3 and up. Don't think hes insulting where fallout came from cause that would be plain silly as it is. Even in most people joined at fallout 3. The only problem with his comment though is that fonv fixed some of them types of problems he had. the added iron sight making the game feel more mainstream. I don't think the first person is really fixable, manily cause the game is kinda made for fps, third just makes you able to see the nice stuff you have and for filming.

I but the thing is i wasnt talking to him about the issue, i was correcting his titling of the series, as he called it the Fallout 3 series, i corrected him, because it is the Fallout series, because it was started by Fallout, the first game.

snip

Flaming isn't allowed either, but there it is for all to see.

On topic: I agree that it is the Fallout series, and Fallout 3 being the third installment of that series. The biggest thing I regret is Mothership Zeta, with Broken Steel being second, not because I didn't like the quests, or writing, but more that you are supposed to die at project purity...The end, no more gameplay, you actions have consequences, and Broken Steel took that and threw it away.

The originals arn't irrelevant. If you are talking about the latest titles being in modern third person and the originals arn't then yes in that case the orignals are irrelevant because the topic would be just about Fallout 3 vs Fallout New Vegas and the graphic differences. Which there isn't really a difference. They are the same game engine.

Still Fallout 3 is not the start of the Fallout 3 series Fallout is, and calling the orignals irrelevant because someone pointed that out makes it seem like you think everything about the orignals is irrelevant.

Should try making your titles more clear.

Okay, that was pretty dramatic. Best thing to do if you feel like someone is yanking chains? Use the report button. We can and do warn if we think someone is using the label Troll to try and shut someone else down - but you know, let the moderators make the judgment call there. okay? And ywah... the thread is staying closed.
