Super Stimpack Debuff

Post » Tue Jun 01, 2010 4:50 pm

I rarely use Super Stims, and I just noticed that the debuff doesn't actually seem to do anything.

Aren't super stims supposed to heal a bunch, but then when they wear off, hurt you for about half of what it healed? That's what they did in FO1 and 2, anyway. You could use them to kill people, if you used enough of them on a target so when the debuff hit, they would just die. It'd be awesome to that in Vegas... Probably a mod for it, though, huh?

That's not how they work in New Vegas, which admittedly may be counterintuitive for someone who's used to how they worked in Fallout 2 (I'm not sure, but I don't remember them being present in Fallout?). In Fallout: New Vegas Super Stimpaks simply lower your strength (I'm not sure if the debuff occurs after a certain period of time or immediately, I'll have to check).

They should've stated that in the item description. Would've been useful to know...

I had it happen once I took a super stimpack, thought I was gonna die lived had like 3 bars of health and suddenly when it wore off, I suddenly died. unless little normal radscrops can poison you and take off around 50 health in under a second, I would say there may of beena debuff then.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Super_stimpak_(Fallout%3A_New_Vegas)

"In addition to healing, Fallout: New Vegas also adds the debuff "Stimpak Sickness" which happens after using a super stimpak. Its effects are STR -1 and AGL -1 and its duration lasts for around 3-4 minutes, and cannot be cured by Fixer. It is very problematic, especially in combat, as it may cause the player to become overburdened and therefore slow in a critical situation. "

You know... not everyone wants to go to the wiki for answers... Some people, like myself, prefer to get answers from other people...

I miss Killing people in Fallout 2 with Superstims :P

Super stimpaks also have a nefarious purpose. They can be used to assassinate friendly NPCs in populated areas; no one would suspect you of killing the person with stimpaks, because they heal people. Having the Awareness perk helps, as you can see how much health the target has. Simply divide his or her current health by 9 then round up. The number you reach is how many super stimpaks you should use to kill your victim. Stick the stimpaks in one of your weapon slots and use the applicable number of stimpaks on the victim. After waiting 2 minutes, they should die from the latent damage (9 points per pak).

You know... not everyone wants to look for answers themselves... Some people, like myself, prefer to have them given to me...

Fix'd for ya

but in all seriousness, help us help you, and sometimes that means, help yourself before asking for it

as for the debuff, losing the STR would be a huge liability in a fight if you were put over your weight limit. One could only hope you'd have some extra Brahmin Steak laying around for a +1 STR buff

No i mean, when i ask for help, someone would just put a wiki link up. If i wanted help from the wiki site i would've gone there first... It just annoys me that some people would just tell others to go to a wiki instead of helping them.

and it annoys some people that others would have answers given to them when they could easily have found the information themselves (and then some)

My final piece
