I gave it a 4/10. I only like it for the night vision and that its all black. There are a lot better sniper rifles in the game like a suppressed sniper. Its good for lower levels but thats it.

Gauss rifle >>>>>>>>>> Ratslayer .

But using the Gauss Rifle on coyotes, Powder Gangers, FIends, and the other low-to-mid-level scrubs that make up three-quarters of the game's enemies is kind of overkill, no?

Ratslayer is a great low level weapon to wipe out large numbers of enemies safely from distance, I ignored the weapon the first time around but in my second run through its really earning its place in my standard weapon set.

Except that it's expensive as hell to repair
And chews through ammo like none other.
And uses a much less common ammo.
And isn't silenced.
And is much harder to obtain in the first place.
And is trumped in every way by YCS.

but other than that, you're right.

Thats why i use the q35 matter modulator or the holo rifle .And it's a bit pointless to waist time sniping such turd enemies.

1 weapon repair kits or Raul .And a sniper rifle should be high damage and be able to kill whatever it meets from distance (deathclaws ,super mutants) and the gauss rifle does that (and ycs is a guass rifle aswell just slightly better).The ratslayer is only truly useful against weak targets which there is no purpose to sniping when a shot from any decent gun can kill them :shrug: .

I still use the Ratslayer with my level 30 character because its cheap to repair, there's plenty of ammo, it's scoped for sniping (+nightvision is cool), and it can kill just about every low-level enemy you come across traveling the wastes in one shot. I switch to the silenced sniper rifle (or AMR) for super mutants, deathclaws, and higher level humans when i want to make sure they die, other than that it's just not necessary to use high tier weapons.

I personally think the Ratslayer is one of the best rifles you can use specifically when you have a 100 for guns then its one shot kills no matter what that is my take on the mighty weapon

Its ok but it doesnt deserve to be ranked to high. I gave it a 7/10.

Now of course I'm a tad biased but for an early level weapon this thing is pretty badass. You can kill off pretty much any human target and a few animals without being seen and at night, FORGET about it. The Night vision scope is AWESOME. Now of course the Anti- Materiel Rifle is 10 fold better and the Holorifle is just devastating but for a highly repairable and free weapon early on, it's gold.

Fair point. I think it's fair to say that Ratslayer's best-loved by those who snipe by inclination, rather than by necessity.

dont get me wrong its good... for hunting rats but other than that just silence the sniper or better yet dont miss your target take your time line up the shot perfectly then squease that trigger then 10/10 snipes should be on target just remeber the AMR ,gobi scout rifle, trail carbine w/scope and the scoped hunting rifle do just push the ratslayer down the list of of sniping weapons

If its about silence weapon, I prefer Abilene Kid LE BB Gun.
