Is FNV still buggy?

Post » Sun Jun 06, 2010 5:25 am

I'm considering to buy FNV for some time but in many reviews they're talking about many bugs and glitches wich would break the game...
but considering there have been a few patches... is it now worth to buy FNV? (BTW.. i'm talking about the 360)

Yes it is still very buggy. Enemies still sink below the ground VERY OFTEN amongst other things. Though crashes have been significantly reduced.

It varies from person to person, you may have a situation like the person above, or you could have my experience and have very little problem with any bugs. The latest patch has reduced the crashes.

Tons of bugs, theres a full list of them on the vault wiki, and that page is enormous. Or go over to the tech discussion board and see all the problems there. The game really should still be in beta! So im glad i didnt buy it new for €50 that would have felt like being cheated, quite honestly. But i got it for €17 2nd hand, and that was well worth it, its a very fun game, things are alot better refined and balanced from fallout3, imo. I wont be buying the dlc, the game is to broke for that. but im not the dlc type anyway.

Honestly it's still buggier than 90% of games on ps3 .But it's manageable.

For me it seems most people overreact, i've had barley any bugs and none of them made the game unplayable. Im on pc though. And even if your game crashes every 45 min in my opinion it will still be worth it since it's such a great game :>

No overreaction here, I seem to find game-breaking bugs every time I play.

Last night I was in the middle of For Auld Lang Syne and decided to pick up the last two companions while I was in the area. So I sent Arcade back to the Lucky 38. Oh, what's that, I forgot the NCR went permanently hostile when I had to kill Snuffy for randomly going hostile. So now I have to permanently wear NCR faction armor so they won't always attack me. Oh yea, rangers and NCR NPCs are still hostile and will attack on site no matter what my reputation is.

So Cass can't join, achievement ruined.

No biggie, I'll go pick up Arcade and finish the quest...oh no, can't do that, he's permanently stuck at the Lucky 38 and thinks I have a companion with me whether I do or don't.

I have about a dozen incidents like this, I almost lost my companions permanently yesterday, but thankfully as I was readying the wiki on the new vegas medical clinic I learned that if you get the regeneration surgery and leave with 2 companions still following you THEY DISAPPEAR FOREVER. Which is amazing, because I saved it for last and was about to do it.

My first play through...no bugs. But it was a short 22 hour quickie. But with two other characters, where I've learned more about the game and done more outside of the main quest, I've hit hundreds of game breaking bugs, sometimes many at once. These two characters alone only had about 90hours of gametime.

Really? Some of the bugs are constant, like when you croutch but your weapon pos remains the same so you end up shooting over your arms, or (and i think this is the same one) when you bring up your pipboy and your pipboy goes over your head so you cant actually see it at all on your screen! This bug is easily fixed by standing up and recrouching but it is constant, it happens like 20% of the time i croutch. However its not game damaging so its not really worth mentioning.
Actually most of the glitches are as much funny as they are damaging.
I recently got a pip boy upgrade from mick at mick and ralphs, not sure what its meant to do but now whenever i use it its tilted! wtf like?!

It's still got some miscellaneous bugs, and some of them can be annoying at times. But after the past couple of patches, MOST of the worst of them have been fixed. I've played it off and on since it came out, and while I would have rated its bugginess at around an '8' at the start, it's down to about a '3' now*. In my opinion, of course- your mileage may vary. To me, it is highly enjoyable now, and well worth your time and money. There may be another patch or two as time goes on, but overall, it's pretty stable and more than good enough for me. If you don't get it, you will be missing out on a very cool game. Go for it.

* on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being bug-free and 10 being unplayably buggy.

Apart from subterranean RadScorpions, Warp Bighorners and going blind after shooting with the Cowboy Repeater (a brand new one :celebration:) it isn't that buggy for me. Of course i use the community patch too. Which is from two patches ago (i think) and may cause bugs

Yes the game is still buggy but its probably becasue I need a new PC... If you have an older PC forget it! I have to play this game in window mode becasue my sound is all messed up in full screen mode and they still haven't patched that issue which is very irritating...

For the first time I wish I had an PS3 or xbox360 so I could enjoy this game...

I'm on PC, and aside from the occasional crash when changing areas, there's only one bug I've had to deal with. Knight Torres inventory. Buggy as all get out, which annoys me to no end.

I can only go by my spec's but hopefully this gives some feedback.
Core i7 920
MSI X 58 Platinum
EVGA GTX275 ( runs it with no lack of power)
Mushkin DDR3 1333 tri channel 6 Gigs
Win 7, 64 bit
I have had no issue's at all.
Litterally None.
Maybe its due to the PC version But i cannot speak to the Consoles.
