Is medicine any good?

not really useful - but then again u don't have many options . u choose - a damage type skill , then sneak , lockpick max , science max , then u can choose what u like , and u can level at least 2 or 3 skills to 100 i think

I agree with people who say Survival is more important on hardcoe.
When I play hardcoe I end up using hardly any stimpacks. Then again I enjoy crafting stuff...
Obsidian has wisely made it so that there's alternate ways to complete quests that require medicine.

I just put in the occasional spare point now and then, if you get Medicine to 25-40 points you'll be fine.

ha ha ha ha you said stimpacks were hard to come by you are playing new vegas.

Im playing on very hard. I guess i feel that way because i spend too many in each encounter... not like i got a choice.
They certainly are MUCH less common than in fo3.

As for doctors bags, that only requires a skill of 40. If you have 10 intelligence, all you need is a lab coat and skill magazines. You can make all doctors bags in one go, saving skill magazines from being wasted. And if you dont have 10 intelligence, you can raise it higher by mentats , etc. Not giving any spoilers, but im pretty sure you will come across at least one Skill Book too.

AND on top of that if you have survival instead of medicine, you get to make HYDRA. Who the hell needs doctors bags when you can make hydra.

The SPECIAL stat loss hurts, but with maxed out Rad Child, you are right hand of God.

How about Solar Powered now? The +1 HP per second and +2 Strength is nice. Sure, not as good as Rad Child, or as early. But there are no drawbacks. Plus you do not have to pour a ton of points into surivial. Which really does not need to go over 45.

Its good. If it is maxed out that means stimpacks are a lot better. They will put it 90hp or 108 with Aracde or Fast Metabolism. The more HP they put the less you have to use and the more money you save on buying. Of course you could always make them too.

The idea is to be able to craft them. Hydra is obviously the better choice in everyway. From weight to price to duration.
