How many Save Points did you create?

Post » Sat Jun 12, 2010 10:46 pm

I just keep 1 manual save plus 1 autosave. Though for the DLCs (Dead Money included) I tend to keep a save just before I head into them in case of emergency. I save over it again once I return.

I save really often but I've always hated having a lot of different saves, in any game. I *hated* how I constantly had to delete saves in the Witcher for example, it created a new save for each autosave.

this exactly.

and i always delete the auto when im done playing, and copy the new save to my USB, so if anything happens ill never lose more than one day of playing.

i just dont see why some people have like 100 saves, why do it? what does that accomplish? unless you actually have 100 characters dont do that, its stupid.

I have 181 so far. I leave auto save on, but I don't rely on it. I quick save a lot, and make hard saves at certain points throughout the game. I'm still on my first play of FO:NV, I stopped after the previous patch. I got tired of waiting for the patch to fix the patch and started up Fallout 3 again, which I have 161 saves on that game. I keep all of them too. I still have my saves from my first character of Fallout 3, which is 286.

This seems a bit excessive, does it not? I simply see no reason to have more than 1 or 2 per character

I average 107 per character. I've had weird faction bugs that required all of them on more than one occasion. I've had to go back one by one to find the source of the problem.

Admit it, this game is full of bugs and you need to keep lots of backups to keep things from blowing up.

On PC, so space is never an issue. Therefore, I go hog-wild with saves. Auto-save is turned off. I never over-write saves.
I save far more often than probably really required even for glitch-paranoia. Some of it's because I like to do a lot of goofing off/testing and I want to always be able to load a save that's close to/near whatever quest/point in the game I may want to test. So...yeah. At least 100 per chr, sometimes closer to 200. I keep them separate via copying them to backup directories & deleting for new chrs.

I regularly go through and delete old saves that I don't touch. Generally, I'll have three or four unique saves; one for each character, and a handful of autos.

Everyone has their own way of doing things, you don't have to be rude and call it stupid because you don't do it.

It might be excessive for consoles with limited space, but I play on PC and space isn't an issue. It has come in handy several times. In FO:NV, before the first patch, I was trying doing a quest that was bugged, so I loaded up a save before I started it hoping a patch would fix it (which it hasn't, I've checked). I entered one of the vaults, and my companions, which I left back at the Lucky 38 magically appeared and started attacking things. I looked in the forums here and there were reports of this vault causing corrupt saves. Luckily my saves weren't corrupt, but since I was experiencing weird behavior, rather than take a chance, I loaded a save from before I entered and put it on my to-do list when it got fixed. I like to have all of my saves for a character. It's kind of like a record of the history of that character that I can re-play at any point.

20 total after major decisions and quick saves all the time prior to and just after completeing quests.
took exactly 100 hours for me to hit the end ( all locations visited and quests available based on my decisions)
I am sure that could/would vary and I am not "finished" I am still exploring and finding unique weapons and hording Caps.

I quicksave frequently during play, then use one of a rotating set of 4 full saves at the end of each play session.

One for each character + an auto save so about 5. I also have a few other saves just cause so I think that comes up to about 10 or so saves.

I honestly don't save that much and it's bit me in the ass a few times for not doing so but really, i just can't keep 20 saves per char, it's beyond me.

I usually have about 10-15 saves for my current play-through and just save over the oldest one once get around there. I also keep the last 2 saves for characters I retired on a separate storage device.

400 or so. I used to just create a new one whenever I made a choice and on every quit but now I just overwrite the previous save.

I actually didn't really delete the old saves... I backed them up on a USB pen-drive :)
You never know when you hit a glitch and I want to at least have a chance to roll-back
to a point where the glitch hasn't happened... yet.

Cheers!
