Where can I get a house to store things?

Post » Sat Jul 10, 2010 10:57 pm

Where are some of the first few places I can store some items without them being lost? I've only gotten through a couple of towns so far, but nothing seems like it's obviously "my" house yet.

Thanks.

Novac - Buy a hotel room.
Lucky 38 - A Room is given to you by Mr House
Abandoned BoS Bunker - Inside doesn't cycle, just dont go near the ominous radio untill you're at least 20+

Novac has the first proper player house, but you can actually store stuff in any unowned container AFAIK, they don't respawn. So for instance, you could use Victor's shack in Goodsprings, or any of the Nipton houses.

pretty much just novac untill you can get like ncr bunker and stuff.

i really was disapointed with the lack of housing choices in this game, its like fallout 3 but atleast then you could change how you house looked inside. oblivion was easily the best for houses.

Thanks all. I'll be heading to Novac soon so I can finally unload some stuff. I had to drag myself all the way back to Goodsprings from Primm while both overencumbered and crippled, just to heal myself and sell some gear! I'm trying not to use fast travel right now, even though I couldn't have used it in that condition anyway. :)

I'd recommend the Tops Suit. Might have a little less storage but it does have the most room out of all of them.

Just got the room in Novac. According to the F:NV wiki, "most' containers are safe (how stupid that they all aren't!). Are the only unsafe ones the briefcase and the garbage can?

I'm idolized by Goodsprings. Leave my stuff in the dumpster outside the general store. Never gets touched. BoS safehouse is a pretty sweet spot too.

Well, no one likes trash, so no one will check there

I've never had anything disappear from my Novac room and I use the safe, the desk next to it, the footlocker by the bed, the wardrobe, the fridge and the medicine cabinet in the bathroom for storing my various items.

Thanks. It must just be those other two then.

You can safely use

The motel room in Novac

The shack in Goodsprings

The Lucky 38 both the Presidential suite and all the other floors except the casino floor

The Tops suite

The Ranger safe house

The Followers safe house

The BOS safe house

The abandonded BOS bunker

There are a lot of houses you get to store things more so than in Fallout 3

There is also that place all the way south near cottonwood cove that is surrounded by fire geckos that is completely safe (and comes with a dog to guard it). It isn't an actual "house" but it isn't a bad place to store things (easy fast travel as well). I currently use this and the inn in novac for my bases of operation. I will also occasionally deposit my collection of melee/unarmed weapons over at the abandoned BOS bunker.

edit: remembered name of place; Smith Mesa Prospector Camp. It only has two ammunition boxes and a suitcase to store things but is safe (and again comes with a dog).

I find myself using the Abandoned BoS bunker now. Mainly cause I'm just too damn lazy to xfer the Dead Money Stuff (while over encombered) to L38, mainly because the last time I did it, it took me close to 30 mins. :banghead:

It's the wasteland, you can take anything for your house if it's completely abandoned. Most of them have places for you store stuff safely.

@ Ruined Requiem If you used 2 companions, you could move 700+lbs of stuff. This way you could use fast travel and mebbe only take two trips (depending on how much redundant and overexcessive amount of stuff you've hoarded). Hope that helps ;)

Vault 11. It's rather isolated and inconspicuous. Right now, I'm using the diner - which has several tables, plenty of food and water, fridges, coolers to dump crap in and shelves. It's rather dark, however. And passages leading up to it are labyrinthine to an unwary intruder, which might also serve as a good defense. I might relocate to another part of the Vault - or just spread my belongings about. The Vault's pretty much mine anyway. Not sure if any, if not all, the containers are safe to store things in though. Can anyone verify?

The refrigerators at the followers safe house DO respawn. But its cool otherwise. 3 footlockers and 2 lockers for storage. Fast travel right in front of the door. Good view of the wastes from outside and a sixy nurse to guard it for me.
