NCR: Bunch of incompetent idiots

Post » Sun Jul 11, 2010 10:10 am

Really? Look at Ranger Milo who complains about the troops he's with outside Nelson. Look at Camp Golf where the 'wash outs' are put. Look at most of the soldiers being childish and boohoo about the simplest things. Also, their money ARE NCR Funds, derp. What pays for soldiers money? Military/government funds. NCR is pissing it's money down the drain, courtesy of the famous NCR tribal 'Head-In-Butt' Kimball. Things are so bad in NCR people are going East to MAKE money, speak to the gun merchant at 188, she states that the Prospecters you see are NCR citizens to poor to pay the outrages taxes back home.

You answer your own complaint. Their OWN roads and territories. The NCR are foriegn invaders, no matter how you try to justify it, plain and short.

Funny, I could say the same about NCR. House could find another person to do his bidding if he tried, but when will the next all powerful super human like The Courier come along to play Atlas to NCR's occupation of a foreign land?

So you say, we don't know how things could have played out.

Sigh, yes times are hard because they're in the middle of a WAR right now, times tend to be hard during war times, it comes with the territory. And i guess you could say the soldiers pay is NCR funds technically, but its their pay to do what ever they want to do with it, not like anybodys taking money out of the treasury to pay for lap dances. Derp.
Sigh again, their not forein invaders, they're tring to anex Vegas, if they had been invading it they would have come in guns blazing and just shoot and kill anybody who tried to stop them until they took over completely.
True, House could have gotten somebody else to do his bidding for him, only problem is five years ago he had no clue where the platinum chip was at so even if he could find a lackey it wouldn't have done him a whole lot of good, story still ends with him hung from a cross.
And yeah the Legion would have rolled over Vegas, nobody would have even been able to try to defend themselves against them without the NCR, at least we can be pretty sure about it.

They KNOW their soldiers are going to just blow their pay on The Strip, they're essentially encouraging the troops to gamble and buy hokers.

Sigh again, their not forein invaders, they're tring to anex Vegas, if they had been invading it they would have come in guns blazing and just shoot and kill anybody who tried to stop them until they took over completely.

Hmmmm. House ruled first, then NCR comes into HIS territory, but his army is enough to make them reconsider a war, the Legion comes along, so the NCR cannot invade, as intended. THEN involving the way a quest in FTR occurs, it's obviously Moor wanting House out of the way is so NCR can forcefully expand. Sounds like an invasion to me.

Tell Me, when Germany 'annexed' those other countries back in World War ll, that wasn't invading to you?

True, House could have gotten somebody else to do his bidding for him, only problem is five years ago he had no clue where the platinum chip was at so even if he could find a lackey it wouldn't have done him a whole lot of good, story still ends with him hung from a cross.

So should they just not pay their own troops then? Its entirely up to them what they do with their own money once they get it and their in Vegas so why not blow it at a casino? Its a once in a lifetime opportunity for a lot of these guys, plus their all fighting in the war so they may not live to spend it anywhere else.

Well technically when they signed the treaty that granted House soveriegnty over the stip and as far as I know nothing else, and Moore only decided to put the hit out on him when she found out he was planning to make a move at Hoover Dam. The NCR tried numerous times to negotiate with House but he wouldn't even meet with them.

And no its not hyperbole, without the platinum chip House was almost no threat at all, the handfull of securitrons he had would never be enough to stop the Legion.

There's simpler ways. The military gives them food, ammo, water, and bed. They are taken care of, anything else is excess.

'Found out'? No, she's just pointing her finger and accusing him of trying something. Without the Courier, he can't try anything, so TECHNICALLY, you are commiting nothing more than a purely political assassination. Which put's you on the same bar as the Legion trying to Kimball.

We don't KNOW that. We DO know the odds are against him. But, 'The House Always Wins'

Their doing a job, their getting paid to do it, its not excess.

And yeah she recieved intel that there were securitrons spying on the NCR, she made the only logical conclusion that he was planning on some kind of attack, and she was right.

And we're pretty sure House would have been hanging dude, like 99% sure, im just sayin.

Really? Drinking, gambling, and prosttutes arent excess? Maybe in your world.

Show me this 'intel'.

Care to explain what mathmatic equation you have to deduce it was 99%?

You consider that excess? Whatever dude, either way its their money to do with what they please. Even if I dont agree with them doing it they still have every right to.

And i quote "We've seen Houses securitrons snooping around the dam and Mcarren and we have every reason to believe he's planning to make a move when the Legion attacks the dam".

Care to give me a reason why its not 99%? House doesn't have anything that can stand up to the Legion five years prior to New Vegas, if he had why wouldn't he have stopped the NCR from moving in and setting up shop like he wanted to?

I do. Excess= beyond what's neccasary. You don't NEED to drink, gamble, or buy hokers.

And i quote "We've seen Houses securitrons snooping around the dam and Mcarren and we have every reason to believe he's planning to make a move when the Legion attacks the dam".

I suppose fault lies on me for not completing that NCR playthrough.

Because I could claim you are '99%' insane, when in reality, it could be 43.7% insane. Unless you mathmatically can prove it is 99% possible, I cannot believe your claim to be accurate.

By those standards theres a lot of things that we could consider excess then, like say playing Fallout for example. And while I agree that there are a lot of things in this life that aren't necessary, its not the govenments right to tell us what is and isn't as long as it isn't hurting anybody else, which the troopers aren't.

And come on dude, you know theres no way House would have been able to stand up to the Legion pre courier. And im waaaay more than just 43.7% insane btw :tops:

Colonel, as to the NCR soldiers complaining, EVERY army does this. They could be living in air-conditioned barracks, have top-end food, long range communications back home nearly on demand and run only short range patrols, and they still [censored] and complain. This happens even in real life.

No officer dares take away a grunt's right to [censored] and moan.

Oh, about the soldiers wasting money on drinking and six, the NCR cannot do anything about that because of the treaty signed with House, saying that the NCR cannot do anything to prevent its soldiers from spening money on the Strip. So it's not the NCR's fault really, but a choice of the soldiers themselves.

And House would most likely be destroyed by the Legion w/out the NCR being there, the 99% thing was just a random number so stop looking into it so much. Let's say... House would have very likely been destroyed by the Legion if it was not for the NCR, because all he had for protection was a few securitrons and tribals. He may not have been hung though, since he was locked up in the Lucky 38 but he would have been isolated at least. If you deny that the Legion would have most likely beaten house, then you are saying any and all arguments are pointless because there is no physical evidence in game. If that is the case, you should stop arguing then.

Wow there is major political USA bashing going on here that I missed.

@ guanxii I agree we are going down, and our government won t save us, but I will not let you compare the US military to the NCR, or say we steal oil without a discussion.

#1 At this moment the United States is the powerful technology advanced military in the world. Some countries have more men, some countries may even have a few slightly better toys, but not more men.

Overall we are still ranked #1 on all boards as far a overall military power goes. The United States is the only country in the world that fields giant nuclear super aircraft carriers. They carry not 38 or 40 jet fighters like most countries, but over 130 jet fighters.

War is still revolves around air power. We can park 250 high tech jet fighters close enough to most countries that them combined with B-2 stealth bombers, f-117 stealth fighters, and hundreds of cruise missles can hurt most countries really, really bad.

All of that on only 2 of our 8 super carriers and their fleets. B-2 Stealth bombers do 24 hour+ missions from Missouri, and refuel in mid air. Make no mistake....... No country wants the wrath of the U.S. Navy and airforce. Stuff will get f ed up bad.

Streatched to thin? Probaby, but we have a military presence all over the world. If something goes down do we really need 50,000 in Japan 50, 000 in Iraq? Not really they can be moved.

The US can mobilize a very strong force in a relatively short anount of time. If we need more men we will fire up a draft.

Just think we have a military presence all over the world with only volunteers. No one has been forced to serve in the US since nam.

If the need arises we will fire up a draft without question, and they will get at least 5 months training before being shipped off to the meat grinder. Trained by serious mf ers.

China will pass us up soon since most of manufacturing jobs went there.

Now the Chinamen gets $40 a week to do a job an American would make at least twice that in a day. All these jobs and the big money difference one may ask where does it all go? It goes to the Chinese Defense Department. They just rolled out a slealth jet fighter a few months ago that may be equal to or better than our f-22 raptors.

Problem is we stopped building f-22s 2 years ago because we are out of money. The US doesn t collect enough tax money because Duracell, Matell, Microsoft, Dewalt just to name a few sent their jobs to China. Chinas govnt makes the money our government used to make, but more because they are commies.

Its scary knowing full well that China will be the most powerful nation in the world. They will be rolling out aircraft carries soon too without a doubt. All with the money of US companies. Isn t free trade great?

Spend 50 years fighting the spread of communism, then we give all our jobs to the only powerful commie nation left. Its so dumb its funny, but not really.

Enough about China within 30 years they will be #1 in everything.

#2 The U.S. steals oil? I love this one. If we wanted Iraq, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabias oil we would take it. They can t stop us... All we ve ever done is stop Saddam Husain from taking it all. That is what he was doing in the real early 90s when Desert Storm happened. He took Kuwiat, and had tanks and men lined up to try Saudi Arabia.

The rest of the world (not just the US) didn t think that would be a good idea. Now the U.S. did do 87% of the work there, but the rest of the world backed us in spirit.

If we are stealing oil why are they selling me gas at an all time high $4.09 per gallon? This won t help our government, or our economy. It cripples it more.

So the notion of us stealing oil is just plain bogus. We pay dearly for oil, and if we wanted to steal it right now we would. At this moment there wouldn t be much anyone note worthy would do about it.

The UK would steal it with us........

Every note worthy country in the world that has a chance to stop us if they joined up wouldn t do it. The only joining they would be doing is joining us in stealing the oil.

Russia has their own oil. They are not going to risk it all and try to stop us, hell they might steal some too. China can t mobilize its massive armed forces properly for an off shore attack, so all they could do is [censored] for now.

Point is nothing but nukes would stop us from stealing oil, and who the hell is going to be the first nation to launch a dead serious missle and start fo Real Life?

So us stealing oil is dumb........ Its not happening and if it is I ll be damned, because no other nation is even [censored]ing about it.

You think we can steal millions and millions of barrels of oil, pump it onto oil tankers and no one notice? Or do you think we built a pipeline from Iraq to here? Impossible.......... Even if it could be done someone would have noticed that too.

Sorry for the political rant.

That's not the point, the point is that the money leaves the NCR and into House's treasury; it's called a leakage from the economy. Unless the NCR wants to print more money and make it even more worthless then the NCR troops squandering money at the casino is money leaving NCR circulation.

Well technically when they signed the treaty that granted House soveriegnty over the stip and as far as I know nothing else, and Moore only decided to put the hit out on him when she found out he was planning to make a move at Hoover Dam. Stop cherry picking. It was outright mentioned that House looked to be preparing to make a move on the Dam once the battle started, so Moore sends in the Courier to make sure nothing of the sort happened. House started making aggressive moves, and got burned for it.

Apex is right Mr. Enclave. NCR had no plans to kill House until he was going to play games and get more men killed at the dam.

A dam that even weak cl would have walked right over, and straight into Vegas and nailed House to a cross. House used them and was going to abuse them, but then he got the wrath of the NCR.

House is the dumbest really smart guy i ve ever seen in a fictional story. It like he s oblivious to the fact that NCR has been saving his ass and making him richer.

He talkes about them making him richer, but he never even mentions that thier presence has saved his ass from cl.

Actually he states both of these things outright, that he would have no beef at all with the NCR is he didn't suspect them of trying to kill him; here's a thought, why does House not trust the NCR? He is a clever man and something he saw in the NCR made him see them as a threat. Not that I care I still waste the fool but whatever.
