Name: Buchanan
Type: Human - Prospector

Story: Once you've gained access to Nellis AFB - another optional sub-quest is added to Volare!: Investigate the stranger lurking on the outskirts of Nellis AFB. Once accepted a map marker appears, there is Buchanan - he sneaked in to the AFB via the tunnel but he's not willing to leave without finding any loot.
3 dialogue options:
[No check] Say you will find some stuff for him if he agrees to leave. He will demand 3 mini-nukes and 50 40mm grenades. Ask Pearl who will provide this.
[Speech 50] Tell him to give up as he'd be lucky to get out of Nellis alive.
[Barter 50] Pay him 500 caps if he agrees to leave.

When speaking to him again (3 days later he can be found at some shack somewhere), there's an option for him to join you.

Default Weapon (Ranged + Meele/Unarmed): Buchanan's Grenade Rifle + Buchanan's Shovel
Default Outfit: Reinforced Prospector outfit (6 DT) & Blastmaster helmet (2 DT) [from Fallout 3]
Tagged Skills: Explosives 64->100, Guns 57->90, Melee 50->80

Perk: Similar to Rex's perk but instead of highlighting chems/food/ammo it instead highlights any items with a value over 249 caps. If item is in container(closet, box, safe, etc) it highlights the container itself.

I'd like a Legion-oriented companion and hopefully Ulysses fits the bill

If not, then I'd like the companion to be a Junior Frumenarius who's first assignment is to assist you in furthering the goals of Caesar himself (that is, the Legion questline). You'd pick him up at the Fort after first speaking to Caesar where he gets tasked to accompany you into the Securitron vault to ensure you destroyed the robots at which point either you would accomplish Caesar's task, or further the goals of Mister House or Yes Man by activating the robots requiring you to either kill him or convince him with high Speech that disobeying Caesar is for the best (essentially allowing you to turn him)

tags should be Melee Sneak and either Guns or Explosives with default weapons being a Machete for melee and maybe a Cowboy Repeater for ranged

SPECIAL something along the lines of 6574567. Perhaps his special Perk could be something like a buff to Endurance called Legion Toughness or perhaps a perk called Junior Frumenarius that gave the player a higher reputation when wearing enemy factions' armor

The companion quest is a little tougher. Too often do we see the "Should I Stay or Should I Go" quests like with Veronica. I'd like to see an interesting twist on that concept where instead of the player helping the NPC Companion through an emotional issue or moral turning point, the companion quest puts the player at a moral crossroad requiring you to follow him on a special assignment to massacre a very small encampment of civilians (similar to Nipton). Either the player refuses and is able to convince the companion to agree and disobey the orders, or the player refuses and cannot convince the companion to do likewise forcing a confrontation and fight to the death, or the player feels the action is justified and assists the companion. I'm not at all sure what the quest reward would be. Perhaps successfully completeting the mission with the companion upgrades the companion's default weapons to like a Fire Axe and a Trail Carbine called Caesar's Promotion. I'm at even more of a loss what the reward would be for completing it the other way

If only.

Viktor
East European ghoul with unique short sword and likes shotguns.

Was working at a European circus in Vegas when the bombs fell. Survived since then as a very highly paid armed guard for merchants and travellers in the Mohave. He's been escorting NCR politicians between New California and New Vegas lately. You run into him between Hoover Dam and New Vegas after an attack by some Vipers killed his entire party and left him as the only survivor, albeit unconscious and bleeding when you arrive on the scene.

If you choose to revive him, he tells you what happened and asks you let him die since he failed his duty. If you promise to kill those responsible, he'll wait for you at the doctor's office by Crimson Caravans. When you show up after tracking down and killing the Viper crew responsible, you have an opportnity to hire him.

He can only wear light armor. Regardless of the armor, his pants are tucked into his tall boots. He only uses shotguns and swords, but inexplicably will automatically use any laser pistol you put in his inventory and doesn't need ammo. But he does more damage with a shotgun and his sword. So don't give him a laser pistol.

His short sword tends to sever limbs more frequently than you'd think possible. Strangely, he will use other melee weapons, but none are as effective as his unique sword.

His perk is "Threat Perception," highlighting the most dangerous enemy in range in red, the next in orange, down to yellow for unarmed/disarmed enemies or melee guys 20' or so away. If they are on the other side of a hill a mile away, they'll be a pale yellow. ED-E, I'm looking at you.

At some point he offers to teach you how to negotiate better deals with merchants (giving you +10 to barter) or find you a similar sword for +5 to melee, with bonuses to limbs and critical hits/damage. The "finding a sword" is a miniquest, just visiting his old partner's grave and having 50+ melee nets the prize. You just have to dig it up because he doesn't want anyone to see a ghoul digging up a graveyard. Plus, it's, well, ghoulish.

He will never use explosives. You can give him all the grenades and dynamite and rocket launchers you want and you will never find yourself taking his splash damage.

There's no real "companion quest," but if you ask him if there's someplace he wants to go, he'll respond with someplace that always has deathclaws fighting something/someone when you fast-travel in. You can do this over and over again until you get tired of dying. It's a different place every time, like a random encounter you can count on.

Definitely. This.

We need a Legion companion who personifies all the qualities of the Legion: strong, intelligent, cunning, deceiving, naive and ignorant.

The companion himself should offer some insight into life under the banner of Caesar, what the Legion is like back home in Arizona and he himself should be able to provide good arguments on behalf of the Legion. The companion quest should involve showing him how Caesar is essentially lying to all of them. You could have it sort of act like a combo between Raul's and Veronica's; at first you can attempt to convince him that Caesar is lying to them all, which he scoffs at, confidently telling you to show him proof of Caesar's lies. Then he could have specific location and quest markers that slowly overcome his confidence in Caesar, giving him doubts. The triggers could be as simple as showing him the Securitrons on the Strip as an alternative, having him meet an intelligent and capable woman like Moore or Keeley, or performing medical work on the NCR soldier at Camp Guardian/the injured Boomers etc.. All these would make him lose confidence in Caesar, which leads him to want proof that he's only copying old Rome. This could send you on a quest to ask the Followers if they have one and they'd point you in the direction of a place where you may find a history book. Once he reads it and sees the similarities in Rome and the Legion, it shocks and disheartens him. At this point you can either convince him to become vengeful towards the Legion or argue that Caesar's lies are still justified and/or the purpose of his Legion is still good.

His companion perk could be something like an increase the effects of Healing Powder, increase the speed at which you can punch/swing melee weapons OR....there could be a perk like "Frumentarii's Cunning," which automatically prevents all hostile factions towards you from recognizing and attacking you.

I'd also like to see a thief-type character that could offer us more input on Freeside and Mr. House. He could be a Robin Hood of sorts, living cut off from the rest of Freeside, sheltered inside a his home (a building in Freeside). You could get a quest from a Follower, asking you to break into the house, explaining that it's a thief in possession of valuable old-world relics that they'd like to get a hold of. When you actually break in, you find dozens of impulse mines laid about and a couple deactivated Securitrons among them. Upon talking to him, you realize that he is indeed a thief, but only steals from the rich. He regularly steals from rich tourists on their way to the Strip, then proceeds to spend all that stolen money around Freeside, thus helping it's people. The old world relics in his possession were "stolen" from one of Mr. House's old buildings (H&H Tools, REPCONN, Camp Golf, The Lucky 38 itself or the like) before Mr. House had even shown his face to the Strip again, and the thief argues that he has just as much right to own them and Mr. house doesn't need them. To complete the quest (if you side with the thief), you would have to talk the rogue Follower out of trying to steal from him OR make some sort of deal between the Followers and the thief. Once it's done, you gain his trust and he can join you as a companion.
The thief would give much insight as to how the people of Freeside are being neglected and how Mr. House refuses the freedom and privacy of the people, in a way, semi-regularly sending Securitrons to the thief's residence to try and confiscate the old world relics. Somewhat paradoxically, if asked about who he'd like to see in control of New Vegas, he argues Mr. House is the best choice. He backs up this argument by telling the player that Caesar's Legion would never accept his life as a thief and have him killed. On the other hand, the thief will mention he comes from the west and fled from the NCR after a bounty was put on his head for an attempted heist he commited there. The thief then argues that he's screwed no matter who wins (unaware of a possible independent ending, of course) and will be forced to move once the war is over, and from his own objective point of view, sees Mr. house as the most qualified to take care of New Vegas in the long run, though he hates to admit it.

His companion quest could offer a glimpse into his past and his cut-off lifestyle (the thief would always sit idle in his house, never communicating with anyone until the player actually approaches him. Some citizens of Freeside would be oblivious to his existance, others would only know of him as "that thief."), revealing the details of that attempted heist in the NCR, why he did it and how a friend/lover of his double-crossed him during the heist, forcing him to flee here.

His companion perk could be a +10 boost to all passive skills as long as he's the active companion, such as lockpick, sneak, speech, science and barter.

My attempt at a Legion companion (seems to be all the rage atm):

Name: Maximilian
Type: Human - Vipers member (Legion)
Story: Located in that gas station on the path from Primm to Nelson. The two hostile Viper women will still be there but Max will be in the back jail-section and wont not be hostile. If you speak to him he'll express a concern that you've killed the local Viper group he was apart of. He also hints about a fear of being alone (technically he suffers Monophobia) but at the same time he hints at being pleased that the others are dead.
Recruiting: To recruit him you either pass: [Medicine 30] saying he's got monophobia so it makes sense to join up with you or a generic [Speech 30].
Personal quest: Certain places related to Legion, NCR and Fiends will trigger dialogue where he complains about the Vipers - how they're so unorganized and undiciplined, how their leader is hooked on drugs and incompetent, how they struggle to even supply themselves with food and water. Slowly you will be able to either turn him towards the idea of the Vipers integrating into CL - or you can convince him the Vipers are a "lost cause" who will perish eventually.
Once this is done there could be a section where you have meet some with the Viper leader and convince him to join CL, then afterwards you have to go talk to Vulpes Inculta which will accept the offer. Afterwards you won't meet any Vipers in the game world.
No sure what perks would be granted to him at the end... Perhaps something similar to 2 x Toughness?

Default Weapon (Ranged + Meele/Unarmed): Special companion version of 12.7mm SMG + Straight Razor
Tagged Skills: Guns 64->100, Melee 50->90 (has strong preference to SMG weapons)
Default Outfit: Merc troublemaker outfit + Desperado hat
Perk: +10% damage & -10% spread with all automatic weapons

A companion that's a member of CL sounds cool but I don't think its realistic. CL views you as thrash (profligate) so no legionnare would want to be submissive to you!

Of course you would have to have a very high reputation, after all, he does, after you do his quest, give you his sword in recognition of your superiority.

Now for my idea that blows all of yours out of the water.

I have an idea for a companion. Wu Jingwei, son of the honorable General Jingwei, he is an elite Chinese stealth commando, but does not attack the Courier. It is revealed that he never wanted to go to war, his father mandated that he would, being a strict Confucist, he obeyed. He speaks Chinese, but the PIPBOY has a translator, and Wu understands english. While he is an communist, he had spent much of his time "undercover" playing tourist, and he began to respect the Americans, whom had been misrepresented in Chinese propaganda.
You would find him at the General Store at Bonnie Springs, injured. If you have the survival or medicine to heal him, he regains consciousness, and, after a little bit of startling threats, he calms down and thanks you. He tells you that he had been injured by the Vipers outside when he was travelling from his cells bunker to go to the location of his dead drop. To get him to follow you you must retrieve his dead-drop supplies, for he has not yet fully recovered enough to get them himself. When you ask how he knows its still retrievable he informs you it is sealed and its lock is highly sophisticated. Go to Bootjack Cavern and retrieve Chinese Commando Supplies. With his supplies (Chinese Commando Combat armor [Identical to a chinese jumpsuit from FO3 but has 13 DT], Chinese Commando Headgear [Identical to the commando hat from FO3 but with shaded goggles, PER+2], Chinese Commando Sidearm Identical to the Chinese Pistol from FO3 but firing 12.7mm with an 8 shot clip, 20dmg, fire rate of a 10mm pistol], and a Shocksword [He gets sad because this means his father died at Anchorage, it's NOT Jingwei's Shocksword, but it's a hereditary thing, being part of an honorable family, basically a Shiskebab stat-wise])
And so he joins you, saying it's only to become informed on the state of the region. You get "points" for visiting certain locations.
Yangtze Memorial +1 (He gets sad and mournful for the Americans)
Red Rock Canyon +1 (He comments on how they act like ancient Mongolians)
Hoover Dam Offices, Radioactive Waste Room, if you take a Chinese Stealth Armor from the crate. +1 (He comments on how the Stealth circuitry corroded from radiation exposure)
Lucky 38, kill Mr. House +2 (When you enter he tells you part of his mission is the elimination of The Capitalist, you have the options: take him up to the Penthouse after killing Victor, remind him that the war is over, or head up to the penthouse and inform Mr House who will have Wu killed whilst he waits in the casino, or head up and NOT inform House, or kill House whilst Wu waits in the casino [Only get +1])
Camp McCarran, Colonel Hsu's office. +1 (Wu attempts to converse with Hsu in Chinese, Hsu does not understand, Wu sadface)
Once you have 3 "points" Wu tells you his mission details.
1: Kill The Capitalist. (If you don't/didn't want to, you have to convinced him to ignore this, if you didn't before.)
2: Discreetly sabotage Hoover Dams generators so another agent can rig them to blow.
3: Steal T-51b Power Armor schematic.
4: Report to secret Chinese HQ in Hidden Valley (OH THE DARK HUMOR)
The first two are done, you have to either become a BoS Paladin through the BoS quest or break in and steal it from the Armory Terminal, either of which you are stopped by two Paladins outside, Speech or kill them.you dont get BoS infamy if you are Idolized because your word means a lot to the Elder. Stroll across Hidden Valley (OH THE DARK HUMOR) and enter a Bunker, like Veronica, Wu will open the locked door with a password, The bunker is full of Chinese commando ghouls! After a short non-subtitled Chinese chat with the head-honcho when you enter, Wu kills him with the Eagle Claw guns down the guards. The alarm blares and Wu turns to you, telling you that he understands now: The old world is gone, and this piece of it must be swept from existence!
Now fight your way past commies down to the second level, Wu tells you this bunker had a self-destruct terminal, but it was destroyed, so "we" must sabotage the generator, and set it to explode from the Armory Terminal, fight down to the generator room, sabotage it, and head up to the Armory, grab some choice gear (Prototype Chinese Power Armor, working Chinese Stealth Armor, Chinese Commando Combat Armor, Chinese Commando Sidearm(s), , Chinese Commando Headgear, and the lovely Chinese Assault Rifle). After you got your haul, flip the switch and run like a Gecko out of there. Once your out and the ground stops shaking, talk to Wu. Wu thanks you for... ending all of this. Wu grabbed some gear from the Aory as well, and asks you how he should hone his training to be more effective while in your service. Tell him that precision is key, he equips Chinese Stealth Armor and a Sniper Rifle+; Tell him that you need a man who can take heat and give death, he equips Chinese Power Armor and a GMG; Tell him that the infantryman is the strongest soldier, he equips Chinese Commando Combat Armor and a Chinese Assault Rifle; Tell him that honorable fighting is up-close and personal, he equips Chinese Commando Combat Armor and his Shocksword; Tell him that the shadows are a sanctuary, he equips Chinese Stealth Armor and a Chinese Commando Sidearm.
Other info: Wu is a heterosixual male Chinese ghoul. He wont use This Machine or the Gobi, they have spilt his comrades blood. He has 75 Melee, 75 Sneak, 75 Guns, and 75 Explosives, and 100 Unarmed (1-2 [Besides Unarmed] will be maxed depending on your end-quest advice). If you give him Noodles, he gets excited and asks you if you what you want in return, [Unarmed 75] ask him how he killed that guy in the bunker, he will teach you the Eagle Claw (Power attack whilst sneaking/standing still??). I drew a blank on his companion perk, any ideas?

(Colonel Martyr, before you complain about him being a "pick a side" companion, it is shown you can talk him out of that, and completing his quest makes him unaffilated with his old life and mission.)

Darius
Sentient Lakelurk

Story:
Darius is pretty much a variant of a supermutant, 'cept he developed near the ocean when the bombs fell. He used to be a fisherman, but once he became exposed to radiation he had a new outlook on fish. Years later, he learned that he wasn't the only one of his kind. He was accepted by the rest of the lakelurks, but when they were starting to attack surviving humans, he became angered. He tried to reason with the leaders of the pack, but they only made him an outcast. He then went past the Californian boundary and into Nevada, near the lakes that still ran moist. With his charismatic skills, he gained the trust of the local lakelurks and began his own tribe. Though his followers were loyal, they would occasionaly wander onto NCR/Legion land.
Find:
When you find him (and you'll find him by a quest which I think a good name for it would be Beyond the Sea, in accordance to a lot of the quests having names of songs. You get assigned by Chief Hanlon, because he says that there's an unnatural "force" killing mass ammounts of the Legion. He gives you some locations to start looking after you check the site of the last attack. The quest will be where you have to kill the lakelurks in the cave where Darius is.), there will be a lot of lakelurks you have to kill. Once you get to Darius, he'll start laughing and say he's impressed. Then will give you a list of dialogue choices to engage him in.
Recruitment:
[Speech 45] Tell Darius that you wish for the same goal that he wants; peace.
[Guns 30] Tell him that the cave is fragile enough for a 50. round to the ceiling to cave in the entire tunnel.
[Barter 45] Tell Darius that he can convince Hanlon that the lakelurks are completely wiped out for a fee.

Default Weapons:
Ranged: Harpoon Gun (If Obsidian ever decides to put that in), otherwise a special Recharger Rifle (Evaporator).
Melee: Fisherman's Spear (Again, if Obsidian even considers it), otherwise Combat Knife.
Hope my idea is good enough, lol.

(Colonel Martyr, before you complain about him being a "pick a side" companion, it is shown you can talk him out of that, and completing his quest makes him unaffilated with his old life and mission.)

wow you really put some thought into that but if hes just been playing tourist observing why is he injured when you find him? as for the perk im thinking stealth.maybe it gives you the invisibility when wearing the chinese stealth armour which i believe it did in fa3 but i never found it so missed out there.but this one my fave defo.i would like to see someone who was totaly loopy but in a funny way who had no affiliation at all and no preferance to yours.just looking to be on the winning side.also maybe their a blank canvas with the weapon skill and you teach him yourself to use what you want provided you maxed at the skill in question.

Name: Akemi
Gender: Male
Race: Human (Asian)
Profession: Stripper
Location: Gomorrah
Personality: He is very down on life, not the life of the party, but he always manage through his own misery to make people smile with his dry jokes, will laugh with glee when he murders NCR or anyone on The Strip.
Backstory: Akemi was born in San Fransisco and lived with his mom and his two brothers for 9 years before Shi had a serious decline in available jobs. The fishing town's water got poisoned and all that remained were traders jobs and the high tech facility of the Shi, some people blame that the NCR were responsible as they had been trying to "negotiate" terms to annex San Fransisco for quite some time now. Since none of his family knew anything other than fishing they moved out east to find work. But due to them being citizens under Shi and NCR having been very frustrated with SF there were no work to be had. They ended up in Modoc where he and his brothers worked the fields and mines, it was basically slave labor, the only people who got these jobs were those with nothing left and they were always treated like crap.
At the age of 14 his brother died from stress induced trauma of being forced to work 18 hours a day to even scrap up enough money to support the rest. Akemi became more sinister then, looking at NCR and most associated with them as slave masters and started having strange dark dreams of hurting people, NCR affiliated citizens he knew were often the target of the dreams. Instead of getting a job he worked in the bar as the cashier of the local gambling, he through this den of filth got in contact with a Psycho dealer who wished for the boy to sell his drugs as he was under watch by the NCR, he would earn far more than his cashier job or the fields or mines. First couple of weeks were okay, until he himself started taking the drugs just to get by. His temperament shifted constantly and his mother always screamed at him when he got home in the morning after being out all night doing small jobs here and there. He knew that his mother thought of him as a disappointment but he also knew he was the one bringing in the caps to feed the family. At age 19 his other brother died, he had been beheaded in the woods with no clothes on. The NCR police spoke calming words to the mother as they promised they were gonna find out who did this heinous action. But as time passed on and NCR with no leads on the case abandoned it completely. Akemi's mother had then gotten I'll, they could not afford the ridiculous medical treatment prices set for them despite Akemi's job. With the depression of her last do-good son dying, with the disappointment of her remaining son and with the general depression of how life turned out she passed away in her sleep. Akemi didn't know whether to be sad or relieved. On one hand everyone he knew or cared about had died, but on the other hand they were holding him back, if they had taken other jobs like he did then they would have been able to scraqe up enough money to get into Shady Sands. With his family dead he decided to leave an imprint on the town. The Psycho addiction and his murderous dreams had finally taken it's toll as he had nothing left to live for and he assassinated the entire police quarters of 26 police(wo)men, they were all found beheaded. Due to the law enforcement being neutralized he could easily escape. A year later he found himself wound up at New Vegas, knowing that he needed money he took the easiest and the sleaziest job in The Strip, being a stripper, there he has been, dancing expressionless for other people's lust, and boy oh boy do he have recurring murderous dreams again.
Recruitment: When you find him you have to not give him a single sleazy comment on his appearance, using Confirmed Bachelor or Black Widow will also close him out of being recruited. You need to ask him about his life, of what he wants to do and if he has a dream he wishes to accomplish. If things go right then he'll join you.
Skills: Lockpick, Sneak, Guns
Perk: While in your party you get +15% sneak radius and +30% sneak attack damage with pistols. He can also unlock Very Easy to Medium locks for you.
Faction Alignment: He hates the NCR so Independence or Legion is the way to go with him.
Faction Hostility: He hates The Strip and everyone there but he won't Boone them, but he's against The Strip in general and will with glee murder everyone around if you attack them (His comments will be rather dark and psychotic). He is also completely against NCR, following that quest line will have him turn hostile against you.
Default Gear: He has a very feminine short leather jacket with fur on the collar and some black jeans. His default Melee weapon is a personal unique Hatchet, it has, on the wooden handle, 26 red skulls painted on it with the word NCR crossed out on the edge of the blade. His default weapon is a Ranger Sequita.

Name: Lorthalis
Gender: Male
Race: Cyborg (Caucasian. What human is left of him)
Profession: Black Knight
Location: Cottonwood cove
Personality: Very solemn, never backing down in any conflict. Even if it means sustaining a good degree of damage. Despises the Legion, has no true love of the NCR, yet finds himself admiring of the two's combat prowess.
Backstory: Lorthalis, doesn't speak much. However, he will give insight to the matter that before the war, he was a greatly obsessed film watcher. One such incident of his love of films led to him attempted to re-enact a dramatic car chasing scene.. Which ended with him getting a majority of his limbs crushed or torn off entirely in the subsequent crash. He was fitted with highly durable, repairable electronic limbs, which seem to launch back into the connectors at his shoulders and thighs should they be taken out. Upon questioning of his title of the 'Black Knight', he'll nonchalantly say one character in a film caught his eye, and after the bombs dropped, and he found himself standing.. He took up the mantle.
Recruitment: You'll find him on the very edge of Cottonwood cove, after hearing a shout of 'None shall pass!', fighting off various Legion NPC's with a machete, taunting them as he goes on. Should you choose to -help- him, rather than kill him, he'll nod his thanks and be available for talking. Speech or Strength check needed to progress, as Lorthalis will need to verify you're either -incredibly- skilled with a melee weapon, or a good thinker to follow you.
Skills: Melee, Unarmed, Speech.
Perk: The Black Knight grants you a good 30% increase on HP whilst in your party, his taunts also cause enemies to be distacted. Before becoming unconcious, his limbs will fall off, merely causing him to increase his melee attacks, and step up the taunting.
Faction Alignment: He hates the Legion so, NCR or Independence is the way to go with him.
Faction Hostility: Hates the Legion. Attempting to side with them will result in the Black Knight going somewhat insane and charging each and every one, resulting in his -permenant- death. Siding with the NCR will cause him to challenge each to a 'duel', then call them cowards should they refuse. This will decrease your fame a tad.
Default Gear: Lorthalis is clad in NCR ranger gear upon first meeting him, whilst wielding a larger, greatsword-like machete to stave off the Legion forces. After completing a mission for him, regarding the retrieval of some 'scrap metal' and a few other components, he will upgrade to a metal-plated variant of the NCR ranger leathers, decked in black. He will also carry a .44 magnum, and will wield a properly crafted greatsword..

wow you really put some thought into that but if hes just been playing tourist observing why is he injured when you find him?

The Vipers at Bonnie Springs injured him, the only reason i havent added that yet is because i have stumped myself in another plothole, which is to say, why hasnt he gotten his dead drop in 200+ years? I wanted to say the Fire Geckos are keeping him out, but I want to think up a better reason. I am pretty OCD about my ideas.

Editted it in, and some detail on the second plothole.

By the time of the Courier, the heavily fortified ranch was breached. The ranch, razed to the ground, it's livestock, slaughtered and his family, missing. Judah was finally content about Emrick's decision and was relieved to see his friend find tranquility. However, the Courier finds that Emrick needs the key, but Judah refuses to hand it over and doesn't want to see his friend get warped into a life of misery, again. Though his wife's and son's lives are at risk, Emrick respects his friend's decision and states. "If it was anyone else with that key, I'd kill'em but... I owe Judah... everything. I will remain loyal to his judgements". It is then up to the Courier to convince, threaten, persuade or even steal or kill in order to retrieve the key.
