So I'm sure alot of people here have had the issues with Boone refusing to use his guns and simply pulling out his knife and getting promptly killed. It was a small annoyance, I got used to it, and got on with the game.
Happened to have Boone and Ed-E as companions in the Ultra Luxe the other day, I'd had my weapons confiscated and so had the companions.
Anyway I dont know how, maybe it was a bug or maybe it was that barmaid I punched, but the white gloves suddenly ALL turned hostile. Ed-E being Ed-E promptly dissapeared. I'm getting beaten to death by 4 white glove members, and quite horribly due to my shockingly awfull melee skills. Suddenly I hear Boone shout 'nyah!!" and the usual sound of him unsheathing his knife and had gotten so used to him bugging like that thought nothing more of it, till he runs past and promptly guts 3 white glove members in quite an unpleasant fashion.


..Not a huge deal. I just figured Boone did that to look cool, so it was quite a pleasant suprise to see him actually being usefull, and more than a meatshield.

Come to think of it, since I installed/use Honest Hearts, I haven't had Boone whip out his machete in long time. Not that I mind, but it's strange.

Maybe you should give Boone some giant melee weapon instead of a little knife, since he seems to like melee so much for you. lol

dispite this annoying bug,boone is pretty awesome with that knife.i took him to nipton thinking hed like some fun with the legion guys.vulpes did a runner so i chased and boone took on all the rest with the knife think theres 6 or so.pretty impressive plus took no damage.

Not a bug, but this reminds me of my first playthrough

Wow, that is awesome. But for future playthroughs, there is a safe with a 10mm machine gun next to the bar.

That's the weirdest thing, that stupid knife doesent show up in his inventory anywhere. If it did I'd have taken it off him and spanked him with it a long time ago.
