Energy weapons vs. Damage Threshold

Post » Sun Aug 29, 2010 8:16 am

Been futzing my way through my first EW build, and I was wondering if there is any innate difference between laser weapons and plasma weapons, as far as armor penetration (DT negation) goes? Or are they both the same, and only get the basic -2 DT from ammo? I thought I recalled some past thread mentioning lasers gave better armor penetration, but it could just be my CRS kickin in again...

I know about the Vigilant Recycler OC/MC ammo, just wondering about the different weapons' base effects, if any.

I ll say what I think since no one else is. They both go through the same way IMO, but a plasma round will do more damage when it gets through. On the other hand you can shoot a laser rifle much faster, and in vats you can get more shots off at once.

So really its up to you which to use in what situation.

They both penetrate armor the same ie -2 DT ammo reduces DT by 2 for both laser and plasma its not like plasma has an extra DT negating effect it doesn't, plasma does more damage so more will get through the armor, laser has a higher rate of fire so you can put out damage faster and laser has a much lower AP cost so its more useful in VATS. Their both viable choices what works best comes down to preference.

Laser is also easier to land hits with in free-fire, since the enemies can't dodge a laser beam as easily as a plasma blast.
