The biggest downside to vault 112 is that there is no bed, although there us one in Smith Casey's garage that you could use.

Hamilton's Hideaway is good, but you'll have to clear it out of enemies.

Otherwise, if you're on the PC, you can get the GECK and make your own with whatever features you want, with the entrance wherever you want.

Vaults may be too big to live in. Try the location were you find the Experimental MIRV.

The Down Under mod might be perfect for you, and certainly worth checking out.

It's one of my favorite unofficial homes in the game, the only problems I have with it are that it is too dark inside and you have to walk through the National guard depot every time you want to get to the bunker.

Problem is, there's no beds.

im kind of thinking the family has a nice pad. Thinking of maybe just killing them and taking over would be cool if i could kill everyone except the store guy that would be killer. its location in regards to the map is almost in the middle of the map so ++. I like it also because they have cleaned up the place its the only place thats not littered with junk . and it already has a radio also

A good underground house is in that Metro Tunnel north of Super-Duper Mart. It has a small room with a naval cot, some filing cabinets, shelves, a couple of desks, and a safe that locks and unlocks with a computer terminal. Also there's three ghouls in the room and if you don't kill them and wear the Ghoul Mask they could serve as your bodyguards. ^_^

the ranger compoud is good, i've used it, its underground and clean with plenty of storage and a bed, another location, if you like areas with enemies close by there is a manhole that has a few rooms down undegroud, its a good spot actually, its near vernon square not far from the statesman hotel and super mutants are around, so every so often you'll have to fight em. its not an easy location to find initially but it's near that crater with the jet plane crashed.

What svcks is the fact that Vaut 101 and Vault 112 are the only inhabitable ones.....and you can only go back into Vault 101 during the secret quest....and nobody lives in Vault 112, doesnt matter if you activate the Chinese Invasion failsafe or not. BTW how the h*ll do you get good Karma for activating somthing that kills everyone? Except Braun, of course. :woot:

It's because Braun has been torturing them for 200 years by killing them in the similation in very painful ways then bringing them back and whiping out their memories. By using the Failsafe and killing them permenantly you're freeing them from Tranquility Lane and Braun can no longer torture them. Also Braun can't be killed and so he's stuck in Tranquility Lane forever with nobody to entertain him. So he gets his punishment by being trapped there forever.

How about the drainage chambers, for example the one near Jury St station? Nothing respawns in there, although the Talon mercs spawn outside. I'm not sure there is a bed in there either.

Theres plenty of others, even the one at Relay Tower KX-B8-11 with the mayday message you pick up on your Pip-Boy radio.

Where about is the manhole? I've looked for it around the crater but can't see it? Do you have any other details?
Thanks.

Fort Bannister. The circle of tents is nice, plus there is access to an indoor area and an underground area (Talon Cmp headquarters). Plus, its super fast to get there. Every once in a great while there will be an enemy or two there, but I noticed less of this if you shut the fence gate.

you need to get to the statesman hotel in vernon square, if you do the rileys ranger quest you'll get there, but there is a pretty big crater there and its hard to miss, there is a jet plane in it, crashed , there is also sewer grate in the crater you can go into but thats not the spot i'm talking about, if you're at the statesman hotel the crater is very close by, very very close to it, so once you're at the crater, killl all the supermutants first, then you need to explore the area but the manhole cover is a couple feet above ground level its not level with the street, its kinda behind some rubble, if you just search the entire area near the crater, not right next to the crater but prob withing 50 feet of it more or less, its between a couple buildings at the end of a really short street with some rubble piled up a bit, and you'll see the manhole entrance sticking out a bit it you look, well once you go down there, it doesn't have an enemies down there, its just 3 rooms i think, 3 or 4, all close together, one of em has a fridge or two, the other has some beds, the other has some other stuff, it would make a pretty good hideout, but you will have to kill the spuermutants every so often but its kinda a fun area to fight them in, you could sneak in the hideout without them seeing you but its fun to fight em. there's a some loot down there also, skill book or two, some other stuff.

If you don't want a place with junk than tenpenny tower is great, just clear it, drag the bodys into a spot that you won't go, and boom you've got a nice, clean spot with no radiation in the water (toilets/sinks). Although if you REALLY want an underground lair, go to Fort Constainne because it has an underground spot in the little house/shack. Although all the robots respawn so its kind of annoying. Also any junk can be dragged around into a hidden spot.
