How to get 3 followers?

Does anyone know how to get 3 followers? I remember reading it somewhere but I can't remember where and how.

Here's the link to the wiki page that explains your options. Scroll down to Companion Exploits. I've used the RL-3 method the most, but it is slow and tedious.

You could just abuse the fire/rehire glitch. But that doesn't work for Charon and Jericho.

There's also the Puppies! perk glitch: kill Dogmeat in the same room as the companion you want, and then hire him/her. When you leave the room, you'll get a message saying Dogmeat's puppy is waiting at Vault 101 -- this opens a companion slot! Just do the same as you did before and you can get all the companions in the game.

The other way is the Sergeant RL-3 glitch. Hire RL-3 and then tell him to wait. Speak to him again and tell him he's fired. Go to an indoor location (being outside negates the glitch, for some reason) and 'Wait' until you get a message saying Rl-3 is at Canterburry Commons. This requires patience as it can take a while, but you'll open a companion slot.
Go to the companion you want to hire and get him, then go back to RL-3 and repeat the process to open another slot.

If I have made a mistake here, then I apologise, and I hope someone will correct me.

EDIT: Ninja'd! Damn you, llama! Damn you to hell! :P

Are you playing on PC? Because if you are, you can just use mods, which is by far the quickest and easiest method.

If not, just use one of the exploits mentioned above.

lol, you did all the work and actually answered the question. I'm too tired and need a lot more coffee to do all that. The hassle with RL-3, too, is all the karma ping ponging you have to do. He won't come back with you unless you are Neutral and if you want to hire Jericho and Clover you have to be Evil and Cross and Fawkes are good, etc. So there is a lot of work you have to do in between the hiring to keep it moving along, plus the waiting. But if you only want three followers it isn't so bad. I usually did it to get Charon and Jericho + one.

Well, I have the patience for it simply because it's worth the reward.

But to be fair, it wasn't really that difficult for me because I was only slightly evil, and wanted Charon, Clover and Jericho.

Ya, I didn't really care about the work or the time either. Besides, what are else are you gonna do on the 360? If you want more followers you have to do it any way you can and Puppies doesn't become available until Level 22. Also, I can't really bring myself to kill Dogmeat, or when I have it makes me feel really bad.

Thanks guys :P. Atm I have Charon and Fawkes...I want to get Sergent RL-3 through the glitch xD. Then if I get BS they will become nearly indestructible. Also do I need to get good karma again if I fire Fawkes, get RL-3 and go to rehire him? Doesn't matter if I do i'll just kill raiders (fingers), donate to the church in Rivit City, give water to the thirsty people.

Yeah, I know how you feel. I hate hearing Dogmeat do that little whine. :( I know it's just a game, and I shouldn't be too sensitive... but still.

Heh heh, get Dogmeat, and you'll have the most invincible team in the history of mankind. Seriously, they just don't die. :P

If you're anything like me, though, you'll got bored eventually -- those guys take so much fun out of the game.

EDIT; yeah, you'll need Good karma to rehire Fawkes.

I had him but didn't know about the glitch until I wanted Charon so I killed dogmeat than I had two at once. But when I went to hire RL-3, it said you can only have one follower at a time.

Good to know i'll need good karma.

i usually get jericho or charon early in the game, them i get clover, so i have two followers then, if i lose a follower either because of going to PL or the pitt or part of the main quest in vault 78, then i go to robco facility and get an extra follower with the initial rl-3 glitch, then i just make sure i don't lose my multiple followers until i get the puppies perk, that perk makes it easy to do the extra follower thing, but i find the game not fun with followers later on, i mainly use them early on, once i'm done with most of the quests and at level 25 or so, i hardly ever use em, if the game was harder at late levels i prob would use em still, but late levels i do a lot of sniping, setting traps, taking my time in battlezones, but early on for stocking up on supplies and caps, and to save ammo, or the metro tunnels, followers do come in handy.
