I know Brink is pretty much all about bots (SP & MP). But what they have done 'in 2 days from release' is to include an option to have max 8 human players/server (8vs8 from start?). I wouldn't call that 'done something to fix the lag, i would call that something else...
Reducing the amount of human players per match is not to fix lag issues, but more 'gimping' a game in my opinion...
They just added an option for those that suffers lag; if you want or you don't have problems, you still can do online with maximum player.
Personally I "played" several dozens of matches in Crysis 2 when we were just 4 vs 4, 3 vs 4, 3 vs 3, so Crysis 2 can be "gimping" too; also Brink for standard & for those with no lag, has 8 vs 8 (with bots) that is anyway more than the 6 vs 6 (with lag) of Crysis 2.
In the end what is worst: the unplayable online in Crysis 2, but with more players; or a lag-free enjoyable experience with less players in Brink?
I do understand that 4 vs 4 (with bots) is too few for your FPS standards (Crysis has too few players for my online standards too) but the point is that at Splash Damage they did something concrete to solve things...Crytek did nothing concrete for us after 40+ days.
For the record:
I stopped playing Crysis 2 online because of the lag, and was the first time in my long career of gamer that I have quit playing a game that I absolutely like!
