Crysis 2: :Laptop friendly: :

Post » Sun Oct 17, 2010 3:29 pm

Hi dudes, Im' from Nzone if any of you old pals remember me?

Mobile gaming has become a current trend in today's gaming society. And it would seem nice if other new titles or games were as laptop friendly as Crysis 1 was. I first discovered Crysis, when its demo was released in the Nzone, the cool poster with the guy grabbing a tentacle made me shiver and gave me tingles. Got the latest driver updates as fore-warned as usual and downloaded (took hours btw), it worked like diamond for my old Laptop. I was suprised, and was wondering if Crysis 2 will be as any good in the mobile gaming industry as Crysis 1 was, heck the new M11 could play it with high settings even in such a resolution. How Crysis 2 favor ?

If the laptop is powerful enough to run a game, it'll run. The differentiation of laptops and desktops is pretty much gone, especially with AMD cards (one driver for all).

say what?

now, considering that nvidia mobile chips have set fire and destroyed 100 times more laptops than AMD's ever had (especially during the gtx8/9 series), i'd like you to blow such false statements out of your ass please.

At the moment AMD and nvidia mobile parts are about the same now.

I run Crysis on medium on my laptop so I'm guessing I should be able to do the same with Crysis 2.

Maybe it's because Im using a GTX 260 m, I have to admit the old models were never so stable. And Amd is finally in par with Nvidia in the Mobile department.

AMD were generally ahead tbh :) nvidia parts have been hot while with large failure rates with no real performance advantage for it. With the gtx4 mobile parts nvidia has closed the gap :)

There you have it, all we just need is test/demonstration of Crysis 2 on a gaming laptop to confirm with one of each of these chips to finally prove it.

My ATI's always were really hot while my Nvidia chips were not, but that's what aftermarket coolers are for. Really, I just get the best card at the time and right now I have an EVGA GTX 580 and if ATI's new card destroys the 580 i'll ebay my card now and get the better card.

one persons experience =/= the rest :) nvidia's 8/9 series were hotter than the amd equivalents. However, laptop makers had a lot of influence on the whole issue. My acer 6920G kept my 9500M GS very cool indeed, whereas most ran at 90C.

Also @ virtual, the hd6990 will thrash the gtx580, but the hd6970 competes with the gtx570 in both performance and price.

I did fail to mention I had an EVGA GeForce 9600GT about 2-3 years ago that would crash at 80C. I've never had a card that did that, aftermarket cooler fixed it. But yeah if the 6990 completely destroys the 580 then I'll be picking it up. Between Nvidia and ATI its just a teeter totter, to me no gfx card company is better than the other they both bring pro's and cons to the table just like everything else in the world.

Indeed so matrix, there are very few times where on company destroys another, with the most recent being the hd5870 having a clear market for 6 months, and then being countered by something that wouldn't have competed well even if it was on time!

It kinda breaks the feeling to finish a topic, a fight over brands when the topic is based completely on laptops and its ability to play Crysis 2. Wasn't there a thread about Amd and Nvidia gpus?

Hardly a fight black_angel, mainly a discussion. A fight assumes we both have sides, which we didn't :P we've both displayed that we don't mind about which brand, i was just correcting a slightly false statement :)

Alright Comfy Chair, I'm just getting sick of these fights, when there about such minor details.
Any Dx11 gpu will run Crysis 2 well, Amd and Nvidia alike. It's only a matter of their own choice.

Thy new Acer Timeline edition, does it have a Geforce Gt 330/335? I'll look into it later...

well, i'd say the hd5470/50 + the hd5550/70 and the nvidia equivalent (when it eventually arrives) probably won't hit much about medium though :) but the others will. Also, at no point have i ever said nvidia or AMD cards won't run crysis 2 based on the brand! Since that is just silly :D

Brand fights are always silly, but this one was actually not a fight in the slightest, just a discussion :)

I agree, were all going to play Crysis 2, one way or another. :)
And also - Brand Fights are quite silly.
