DEMO - DOES NOT WORK! - No Servers Found

Post » Tue Oct 26, 2010 12:57 am

I finally decided to download the demo and go through all the shenanigans of reading the TOS and creating my account etc. After getting it all set up I wanted to see how the 3D looked to get an idea of what to expect. That helps me make up my mind if I want to buy the full game.

Except I can't check the 3D out unless I connect to servers. That's stupid! So I go to connect and then get "servers found: 0". People on the web seem baffled, and there are different instructions on different sites with no clear answer. I consider THAT demo an indication of what quality to expect. I shouldn't have to work after I get home from work in order to get it to work... -- But I'm willing to try a few more things I guess. So I've found my way here now.

The game auto patched when I first ran it. So I should be up to date right? If this has been posted before, please direct me to a link with a solution to this problem. Otherwise, does anyone know what I need to do to make it work? I want to play the demo. Thanks.

I believe, demo-time is over. The game is released. Don't think they would keep a playable multi-player demo going and suffer the expenses of running servers for them. Keeping a demo going only makes sense for single-player. Only solution: buy the game. ;)

Thank you for your response. -- Wow, that's annoying. It was easy to download the demo. Then this sophisticated demo with 3d menus and all allowed me to sign up and create an account. It even let me do an update. Yet it's amazing it couldn't bother to tell me what you just told me. The first thing the installer should have done is inform me that the demo time had expired. That would have spared me from all the extra steps of signing up to ask this question etc. But better it should have just let me into the world with no multiplayer so that I could at least look at the game to determine how it might run.

This shows they care little about peoples hassles and only imagine that they will simply buy the game blindly. It means there is basically no demo now. I don't consider my self a late comer either since the demo is less than a month old and the game was just released. The release of the game is what prompted me to try the demo to see if I'd order it. I consider the demo their chance to convince me their game is worth buying. THAT's what a demo is for. At this point I don't think I will be buying a game where I can't at least try for a few minutes on one level. Let's just say it's slowed down my decision and made me a bit leery. Well, thanks for your answer anyway.

"lol"?

Yes, their demo process is a joke. If "LOL" is their attitude then EFF them. one less customer. But you know what? I've read some things the head guy at crysis has said and he strikes me as a conceited, pompous joke anyway. No wonder the demo process is flawed. I guess It counts on svckers to order it.

haters going to hate.
It was ALWAYS a limited time thing, and it actually got more people to buy it. I bought Crysis 2 after playing the demo

haters? Just because someone wants to test drive a car before buying doesn't mean they are a hater. "It was ALWAYS a limited time thing", that's not true at all. Most games are not that way, and Crysis 1's demo can still be played. Also you bought it after playing the demo, so there you go. I may still buy it, but not as quickly as if I tried the demo today and thought it was great. I'll wait a while to see what people are saying. I just don't want it to be another game title I get burned on because it doesn't run well or isn't fun. Then I have to shelf it. With reviews and comments, time will tell.

First off, like I mentioned, keeping demos going only makes sense for single-player. Crysis 1 demo is single-player. Anyhow,...

Maybe this will help: http://www.youtube.com/ngage0nline#p/c/3C0F5A7EB7D6B1F5/0/_yxGqeVC4y4

That's a playlist on my youtube channel. It has a couple of ingame videos, a CAM footage with me playing on 3 screens and a video from the multi-player demo. I'm still rendering a video for my feature-playlist '1st HOUR', but not everybody likes watching the entire first hour of a game. If you have a request for footage I'll gladly try to put a video up, but other than that, I and others on youtube can't do much more.

Unfortunately, I can't comment on the 3D since I sold my 3D screen and glasses. They don't work for me. (got a bad right eye)

wow, I must admit that looks really good nGAGE, and isn't all chopped up like the trailer was because they try to fit everything into a minute or so. It's VERY high quality. While it doesn't let me control it personally, it does give me some sense of what it's like. Being in HD also helps a lot because I can imagine it running that way. Also thanks for offering to do requests. I think there is probably enough footage there though. I'm much more tempted to get it now, plus I have the new hardware for it too. I'm off to watch the video in full instead of skipping through it. again Thanks :-)

Obviously the actually in-game quality is quite a bit better than YouTube because of compression and thus loss of quality, but nonetheless thanks and I hope it helps you ;)

that's true about compression, so the quality should be great. I think they should using your video to sell it. take it easy. :-)

Holy **** cow!
I just downloaded a 1 Gig Demo just to find out that it can't be played?
That is the most retarded thing I have ever seen.

What dumb **** is making these sorts of decisions?

Sounds like somebody neglected to take down the demos. It's rather stupid, I agree, but the demo was never meant to be permanent.

Lol, what a bunch of idiots.
Yep, I see them as idiots, they want you to buy their game, and they still let you DL a demo that cant be played without any warning you are DL something that is not what it appears to be? Lol...

This game is not priority one on my wish list, but I wanted to possible buy it to see how my new GPU would work on this game.

NOW, I will not buy it, just because it is an political issue now. So, EA, you never stop surprising at all.

There.. You just lost another 50EU Electronic Arts....
But I guess you don't care at all, as usual...

They told that the Demo was for a limited time, no reason to argue.

geeze ... the only help and support comes from a fellow gamer ... verus someone from EA or the Cry Team ... says a lot about what they think of their customers.
