64-bit support?

Post » Thu Oct 28, 2010 4:51 pm

Is there any Crysis 2 64-bit support or is it only 32-bit? I want the game to be as omtimized as possible. Just because its very good.

Thanks in advanced for answering.

It runs fine, just want to make it look even better. Ive noticed only 32-bit folders, and if thats the case, its a rollback for me D:

Really want 64-bit!

Folder says Bin32... not just Bin, so thats an god indication theres a 64 bit update coming, all Crytek games so far have been 32 and 64 bit so i dont think this one will be any difrent.

And yeah, i go Windows 7 64 bit and 8GB of RAM in here, so i would like to see 64 bit suport verry much for this game so its not restricted to 2GB of memory use max.

On an other forum an other guy said he was digging a little deeper in the files and found files that indicated that it already had DX11 and 64 bit on there but it has been removed before release, or that they prepaired it so far and it simply didnt fit on the disk anymore, and they just bring it out in 1 or 2 patches together with the bug fixes, wich seems to me (and him) the most logical explanaition)

Yeah. (DONT JUDGE ME!) I saw from the leak that there was both 64-bit version (**** sound, some things totally raqed) and 32-bit. Hope they restore the 64-bit. <3 64!

What do you expect a 64-bit executable to bring to the table?

Really, please enlighten me, since you seem to be so obsessed with a 64-bit Crysis 2. I am not talking about the benefits of a 64-bit operating system (the benefits are obvious there), but those of an executable for something like a game.

From what I was told the leak included a 64-Bit exe. Maybe We'll get one with DX11 update or future patch or something.

Well if you look at task manager when you play Crysis 2 for a while, and you have four or more gigs of ram, you'll notice that it is not being fully utilised. It makes minimising the game and running background tasks slightly more efficient, but the gameplay would be better with a 64bit executable.

I don't like living in the stone age.

That being said; a x64 executable would imply taking advantage of 4GB+ machines. This would mean larger textures, more decals, faster 'second-time round' loading (as assets can be lazy unloaded) and so forth. Simply flipping the x64 compiler switch would be pointless. Take the Far Cry 1 x64 demo for instance: really showed what an x64 platform can do.

you can force crysis2.exe to use more than 4 gigabytes of ram but it will not improve your game performance man, it'll just waste memory.
