It depends if some Dx11 features will represent the max. value for something in C2. If its just an effect which you could enabled and disabled..you will still be able to choose max settings.
They will represent the max, and you have to have all settings enabled for max, as that is the definition of maximum (also with the qualification of a 'real pc gaming resolution' like 1680x1050 and above being used)
max, however, is not required to make you cry at the awesome that is the graphics. The OP's system should reach very high in the settings that don't use dx11 features.
you cant max crysis1 so dont plan on maxing crysis2 maybe on dx9
hurp durp ima don't know about what runs games durp.
*sigh* the OP's system is just fine for crysis 1. If i can run crysis warhead on enthusiast fine with my shaders set to 640MHz and memory at 400MHz on my hd5870 (for lulz) @ 1680x1050 w/ 2xAA, a hd4890 is definitely good enough.

/facepalm
dude if I can play Crysis 1 on very high with 1680x1050 with 2 EVGA 9600's and a little rinky dink dual core AMD and 2 gigs of ram with 40-50 FPS he'll do just as good as my old system.

Crysis 2 also runs better. hey mr herpes 5870=4890 crossfire what you getting maybe 40fps avrg? hed get MAYBE 30fps if not less 4890 on crysis1 on 1080 gets 20fps avrg on 1050 what 25-28avrg he can run it on high no problem but maxed out nope
25-28fps is generally fine for crysis surprisingly (as it is quite a slow paced game), plus ultra high mods = win
Crysis 2 also runs better than the original (smaller maps and all that make a substantial difference, as does engine optimization). So therefore it's a fairly easy logical step to see that crysis 2 should run fine for the OP on very high when dx11 isn't being used. Although it may serve the OP better to run high in multiplayer to get that high fps
so with no specs and no info being given for pc version you can just say oh yea you can run it ez huh safe or sorry?he will play crysis2 on high MOST likely avrging over 30fps on atleast 1050 res but i doubt youd put any money on him being able to max it no problem
he won't run max, because his card doesn't have dx11. But if he can't run very high for dx10, crytek have blatantly lied about what they've done in the intervening years since warhead. Which would essentially mean they'll have done jack **** to the engine apart from make it console capable. Which is highly unlikely.
He wouldn't need double to play very high, he'd need 10% better to reach 30fps. It's a fairly easy call to make with the much smaller maps and a more optimized engine. They've seemingly also not added much in the way of extra effects. Since the OP's machine is crysis very high capable, crysis 2 will be no different (excluding dx11).
They have also stated before that in crysis 2 you will at least be able to play the same settings as crysis 1, if not better.

Anyway, why would you ever need to max Crysis? All you need is to be on very high settings, no AA at all. At least for me that's the case because I'm running on 1920x1080, AA doesn't make a difference.
As long as we can play Crysis 2 as soon as possible, that's all I need to see. The PC specs for it have been so shrouded, what could be so secretive? It's just the nature of EA.

EA again, there's a lesson to be learned from what happened to their Download manager. And the so called "Reliable" support team
I really hope the PC version is very optimised. Crysis 1 on my PC should run smooth as butter, but the game has such an inconsistent frame rate.
Since the have to port the game to consoles, I'm assuming even in medium settings a PC with similar and exceeding specs to consoles should be able to run within the 30-40 range without pressure.
