several questions about mods against cloakers

Post » Sat Jan 01, 2011 3:10 pm

To all, thanks in advance:

tracker -only works on non cloaked enemies?

prox alert -only works on non cloaked enemies?

not a mod but:
nano vision -only works on non cloaked enemies?

...trying to find a good combo to counter cloakers.

indeed, mainly the reason i made the thread. cloak tracker is the obvious choice to beat cloakers and it fails too often.

Proximity alarm works on cloaked people, that's how I usually end up finding a cloaked person, look for radar light up then listen for the beeping to get louder.

Visor enhance works as well cloacked players still light up red its just more faint, and by works i mean when visor enhance actually functions as it is supposed to its very bugged and doesnt always light up players in the scope and sometimes lights players up when not ADS.

Not sure about tracker. Proxy alarm does work against cloaked enemies, though. Nano vision does work, but it's completely impractical. Cloaked enemies will be a very slight blue haze. Between the fact it makes you very vulnerable to everyone uncloaked and the fact it isn't very good at spotting cloaked people, nano vision's mostly useless.

As it stands, cloak is king. Take a look at the leaderboards and note people with high K/D ratios. Then flip over to experience and check out their stealth experience complained to armor. Cloak is so abusable it's not even funny.

If you equip Stealth Enhance++, Mobility Enhance, and Energy Transfer, you'll be cloaked literally 95% of the game. The only time I'm ever visible is when I'm shooting you in the back. I can book it all the way across island without stopping using these perks, get a kill, and continue hunting.

Is it even possible to check that? I'm in the top 50, my k/d is near 3 and I use cloak the least of all suit powers.

BTW, if you keep getting killed by cloaked players you are doing something wrong. Cloaked people are by far the most easy to kill.

NO there not the amount of times i shot some while there cloaked only for them to either run away or take an entire clip which shouldn't happen!

for me the biggest thing is my energy depletes when im activate Armour mode and start shooting which shouldn't happen

Cloaked people who are "good" are not using cloak to kill people all the time. The only times I use it is when walking across large open spaces or to kill someone from behind. To do otherwise would be bad. You will put yourself in a disadvantage.

Then you're the exception to the rule. I never said you CAN'T do well without cloak, just that it's very easy TO do well with it.

It's not an I-win button, thus top-tier players aren't fooled, but it's probably the closest thing this game has to one. And how often are you fighting good players anyway? This game doesn't have actual matchmaking, it just groups whoever's available. Running around cloaked gives me a 2+ KDR everygame without even paying attention. When I'm actually trying, 25-3 is a normal score.

The point I'm trying to make is that, compared to everything else in the game, cloak has the fewest and poorest performing counters. That makes it very hard on average players to fight against cloak. That makes it very, very abusable. Now maybe it's a good thing to have something with a higher skill curve, but that's a different debate entirely.

Cloak Tracker III is in my opinion a good tool but you shouldn't be heavily reliant on it since it only "tracks" the enemies trail while they are on the move with cloak.....shoot ahead of that "glitter" to score hitpoints.....

Cloaked Crappy Campers (or as I call em Triple Cs) light up like a xmas tree when they stay cloaked stationary......

But you really don't need cloak tracker if you have a good eye for catching the blue/violet outline of a cloaked enemy.

In my humble opinion they should ban the pairing of energy transfer with that of stealth enhanced......now that is overpowered.....I can run around with Stealth Enhanced III (less drain on energy when cloaked) kill a guy but get a full energy bar with energy tranfer III and go cloaked again to start the process over........but again if you heed my advice you can make short work of my taking advantage of two overpowered perks (no sarcasm included really)
