Will Crysis 2 be a Consolized port to PC?

Post » Thu Jan 06, 2011 5:21 pm

Ever since I heard that Crysis 2 would be on all platforms, I was very confused. MANY games that were once great on the PC are now being poorly optimized for it. I'm wondering if PC is still the main focus for Crytek or are we being slowly pushed aside? I love all Crytek games and the fact that they're coming to console (My one friend absolutely loves the Crysis 2 demo and now is interested in the whole series!) and that some people can get a taste of what PC Gamers got. But I'm deathly afraid that Crysis 2 on the PC will be watered down and catered to consoles. I'd like some sort of answer on this to make my pre-order go.

Gameplay considerations and limitations aside, the PC version will be optimized for PC as the cryengine essentially makes all 3 versions of the game at once, so they all can have sufficient attention paid to them.

It'll be a port of the console version in every aspect except graphics. The nanosuit and all of the players actions have been modelled after what the gamepad can handle. The multiplayer player count and lack of vehicles in multiplayer are modelled after what works with consoles. The setting in this game where giant buildings cover your view from going too far are, again, modelled for consoles.

Oh well, at least the PC version will produce shinier pictures.

Just hope that the graphics of Crysis 2 will still be like a Crytek game.
All the things have been dumped down to suit consoles and I only hope the graphics can still be like a 2011 PC game.
I've decided not to pre-order this game ,and wait until it is released to see it myself before buying.

What you need to remember is that this Is a PC game first and foremost, built on an engine primarily For the PC. From what Ive seen in the demo, its a watered down version of the PC Version.

this is the PC version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRTkAUq1ups with 360 prompts. So, we all know its going to look good, but the question is, if the console gameplay is gimped, will they do the same thing to pc?
