What good multiplayer game to get for console?

Post » Wed Dec 01, 2010 7:42 pm

Hello everyone, I have a question for you guys and gals. I am looking for a fun multiplayer game for me and the wife and kids. We tried Halo 3 but the problem is, the maps are too big so when we just play one on one or two on two, alot of the fun is gone when all you do is running and find no one. Same thing for War Hawk. Maps are just too big for 2 or 4 people. Me and my wife like beating each other in games, to have bragging rights. Usually she kicks my butt.

So is there any games out there that have small maps for 2 or 4 people? I have a racing game or 2, and wife likes shooter type games. I will not pay for Xbox Live right now, so would it be better to get the game on PS3 then? I prefer the 360 but will not pay for online play. I guess that is what the PS3 is for.

The games don't have to be shooter types but multiplayer and fun. I was thinking of the old game Sid Miers Pirates for xbox. How is that multiplayer?

So if it's a shooter game, is there any with small maps? If so, which ones and what should I get it for 360 or PS3 and why?

Any help would be greatly aprreciated.

Civilisation Revolution is very fun online I find. It's multiplatform I think.

Fancy Pants Adventures (available on both XBLA and PSN) is just about one of the best 2D platformers out there. If you can get over the http://www.bornegames.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/Screen-shot-2010-01-05-at-6.27.38-PM.png it's a lot of fun. It supports up to four players on campaign and king of the hill gametypes. It has pretty great momentum-based gameplay.

I dunno if you like platformers, but here's the trailer anyway: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3lP1MKGH4k

If you aren't willing to pay for Xbox Live then don't get any multiplayer games for the 360. Unless you want to host an old school LAN party that is.

That being said, Killzone 3 is arguably the best multiplayer game on the PS3 right now. Tron: Evolution is also pretty fun (Think TDM with Light Cycles).

For the 360 Halo 3: ODST is really fun if you want to play co-op, same for Halo: Reach. Keep in mind that both Halo 3 and Halo: Reach have forge available so that you can craft maps of whatever size you'd like.

Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2 are both really fun, especially considering you have AI backup. I used to fly a JSF up onto the Sandcrawler on the Dune Sea map and snipe my dad. He'd get so mad at me for just targeting him. :P

Must be hot here, I thought I said what games I have, but now I see I do not have them listed.

We have Star Wars Battlefront, I need to get another copy of it. I forget, can that be played with 2 360s in the house? I have played Halo 3 and ODST but like I said the Maps are so big it takes the fun out. Does Halo Reach have smaller maps? How about Kill Zone 3? I have KZ2 somewhere but can't find it at the moment. When I played that online I die within 30 seconds so not much fun for me, is KZ3 funner?

I got 2 copies of Civ Rev, I might try and teach her that, son loves it, but she is more of a shooter than a world builder, but I will try it with her, I forgot about that game.

Have we been playing the same game at all? Warhawk has so small maps you will spawn on eachother. You just have to make them yourself.

For one on one in War Hawk I am having problems. Maybe I am picking the wrong maps, what is a good map in War Hawk for one on one?

I don't know why but LAN parties seem to be the best when playing with friends. There just so awesome. Get some pizza and beverages and party.

RDR zombies is a bit of fun, might look into that.
