All ways that we have connected to play these games... All of which have really failed when you think about it. What would be the best route to go about keeping servers alive for people to play. An in game type thing? A seperate program that comes on the actual CD? Will we pay for server maintenance? Whats the deal?

That haven't failed. They have succeeded greatly. With the fall of the Official server hosting and whatnot, its because of those things that kept the Descent community tied together. Had they not been there, who knows what would have happened to Descent. No one being able to find people to play. Be thankful you have them.

Never underestimate the power of dedicated fans.

The current D3 trackers (the Descent.cx online tracker and the Vortex chat/tracker application) were designed and built by fans, not for profit at all.

Built-in systems like PXO are awesome, but they naturally have a limited lifespan. After that, it's up to us to keep the game going.

A built in decentralized system would be awesome.

They have decentralized p2p networks, that same technology can be leveraged to decentralized game tracking. Image
