I don't play that much D1/D2, but when I do, D2X-XL is always a blast. 8-)

Different? Definitely. Better ... that's a pretty controversial issue. I'd say yes, but I am little biased.

D2X-XL offers a lot of new features, like colored lighting, smoke effects, high resolution ships, powerups and textures, and and and.

The best would be you surf my site a little and see for yourself. :) Just click on the link in my sig. Image

Yeah, karl owns D2X-XL so asking him would be a conflict of interest.

That said, i reckon that D2X-XL is a great effort to add new features and keep the game exciting, as well as making it pretty. D2X-Rebirth is for when you just need a stable, uncomplicated program to play descent on :D, with some fixes and a few little graphical upgrades. Or at least that's my opinion.

Please do me a favor people: If you download and try D2X-XL, read the installation instructions, and in case of problems don't get mad at me and the game, but register on http://www.descent2.de/forum and ask for help. There's a lot of friendly people there who will help you out. :) Image

I have recently added all missing secret wall hires doors. You should occasionally read the news flash on descent2.de de. ;)

LOL! Your video still shows that fast spinning hires model bug which has been fixed quite a while ago. Image

I love D2X-XL. When I first found it, I was as happy as I've ever been.

Can't wait for descent 4 though.

I have recently added all missing secret wall hires doors. You should occasionally read the news flash on descent2.de de. ;). Well I actually check that news flash now and then, but seeing the date, you've added the secret walldoors only for a few days so no wonder I didn't see it

Yep, I haven't changed that video and I probably wont do it as I'm planning to make a new and better one.. The one on youtube was only a few hours work as I only needed to test some things. First thing I need to do is to buy me a joystick as I can't really play it well with a mouse. ImageDescent 2 madness

I've got D2X-XL on Vista and it runs beautifully! :D But I have spotted some glitches in level 2 (Turnabout Bore) I hope that someone could fix them. All we need is sisu, sauna and salmiakki... Hyv? Suomi!!
