War, war never changes; “The world has achieved brilliance without wisdom, power without conscience. Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants. We know more about war that we know about peace, more about killing that we know about living.” ~Omar Bradley

War consumed the global once more. This war was a war like no other, but a war none the less. With their effort’s to avoid catastrophe no console was left unturned, no option left unexplored. However, despite this, the organisation was heading to a financial crisis and an eventual collapse. The end of the organisation looked final with offices being closed, product development put on permanent hold. It was left for the staff and investors to pay the ultimate price.

In the 21st century, war was still waged on any resources that could be acquired. Facing completed annihilation, our beloved developers bravely lost IP on a product which they spent so much time developing. A quite darkness swept across the organisation lasting many years.

Few survived the devastation, when the great darkness passed the remaining inhabitants emerged eager to begin their great careers again. With the past behind them and their present destroyed, they looked to the future in Project V-13. The ambitious project would be the base for the organisations most challenging project yet. To ensure the successful creation and implementation, the survivors would need help. For they knew, while their power came from fans, their future lay in the successful development of V-13. Thus, the greatest minds and leaders were rehired to reunite the organisation.

Broken, scattered and scared it was left to these select few to square their shoulders to the task ahead. In time they would lead to the development of a Fallout MMO. The developers, in a position to create something that reflects the ideals they had strived for all along, realised the limitless potential and possibilities.

However, one’s future in the wasteland is never certain, for an old power has awakened also bent on making this project its own.
Life at gamesas is about to change....

In the case of this company I would only add one line "the reasons as always, purely human ones".

Agree 100%, mistakes were made that lead to the collapse and the Fallout (for lack of a better word) of the original developers and staff members’ departure.

I would imagine it would be quite frustrating for any developer that spent so much time, energy and resource on a project they felt passion for to see it go under.

Clearly IMO the balance of Executive directives and game development were not on par. You have to remember, it is the objective of the MD/ CEO of any organisation to generate as much revenue as possible. But the question has to be asked, at what cost? reduction in game quality, dilution of the organisations image with numerous mediocre games on the market, thus leading to a decline in customer retention.

These all have to be factored when making any executive decision. My only hope is that these lessons have been learnt and will not be applied in the future. Hopefully a true balance/focus will be applied in quality game creation vs. commercial prioritization.

(I know you were only making a statement, but felt it necessary to add these comments in ;) )
