Descent vs FPS

So this was just a very strange but interesting thought i had. No two companies have ever done this and most likely never will,... i started thinking how people now a days love playing halo or some other FPS on their console. Now imagine if there was a Multiplayer game that was like Descent vs Halo, quake, call of duty,... you get the idea. What i was thinking to myself is which would be superior in a vs battle you think? I would think Descent would be just because of complete free movement. What do you guys think?

Play Unreal Tournament 3. some of the vehicles have 6dof. It works well but only if the ground units have enough firepower to compete.

ok so what about basing it more on the movement factor rather than weapons.. but whatever you prefer.

Ha, then follow it up with a mega.

Anyway, I can move forwards and backwards, left and right and up and down ad infinitum. Beat that double jumping! A massive thank you to EA for:
- Producing great quality games time and time again
- Providing excellent technical support
- Never destroying any highly acclaimed studios for profit

Sort of 6DoF, but not really. You can't control the UT3 ship orientation the same (e.g. rolling, you don't have the same level of control).

this is true but the principle of a free floating ship vs grounded units is still there.
I gives an idea, albeit a rough idea, of what Pyro vs soldier could be like.
