Don't Nerf Semi Auto

Post » Thu Dec 02, 2010 12:51 am

Two things that I really hope Cry-devs take to heart: don't nerf semi auto (it rewards patient shooters who prefer method over spastic tactics) and please allow us to use semi auto all the time in campaign (with appropriate weapons). What really irks me about the demo is that semi auto somehow is considered a weapon attachment. So be it; however, if I am using the SCAR in single player, I should always be allowed to use semi auto!

Isn't semi-auto the other term for burst fire mode for weapons?

Nope, semi-auto is single shot without needing to load the round manually, like a bolt-action rifle for example. Burst-fire is burst-fire :)

Okay, thanks for clearing that up. But wasn't the first Scar with burst fire?

'Fraid not. 1st Scar was full auto with a toggle for semi-auto. IIRC no weapon in Crysis had burst fire.

OT: I agree OP, I don't mind if I can only have one attachment at a time, but semi-auto mode should be included on all Assault rifles and smgs regardless of the attachment in use. And I'm not just talking about Single player, semi auto should always be available, without having to trade it out for your latest under slung attachment.

We were discussing about assault rifles, but yeah. The pistol did have a double action like burst.

Yeah I agree completely, I think it's BS if they won't let me choose semi auto in campaign just because there's a grenade launcher under my gun. My worry is I can't figure out which button would control semi auto/full auto, and which button would control secondary weapon attachment toggle (on consoles). It's really gonna svck if I can't use semi auto in SP, because I would then stop using it in MP because I won't be used to it.

On Crysis 2, the change firemode key allowed you to change between Automatic, Semi-automatic and if you had a grenade launcher/ tactical attachment then the dart/grenade

I don't know why they removed this feature from mutliplayer, i don't think it's because consoles, since they can easily toggle from the 3 modes with just one key, i believe it's Crytek UK who are making and entirely different game from Crysis 1 multiplayer concept, this Crysis 2 MP is console based since Crytek UK was Free radical before, and they did console games mostly so they took Modern Warfare concept which is very popular on consoles and added the nanosuit and vertical maps, so it will be popular on consoles, on the other hand not so much on PC but the SP however, Crytek Germany is doing an excellent job because they know that customization and options are things that PC gamers look forward on their games

My hopes is that If modding tools and SDK are relased, they community might make Multiplayer more PC friendly like Crysis 1, or else Crytek shoudl release a Mutliplayer DLC like Crysis 2 Wars with gameplay from crysis 1 with vehicles and the nanosuit 2

They should just give all weapons as many alternate fire modes as possible, without the compromise of an attachment already, ?

Burst is kind of rare on a weapon. Its usually two or three shots on one pull of the trigger. Weapons like Ruger's AC556 ( military version of the mini-14) have burst mode. So on the selector, you have semi, 3 round burst, full auto. Some American M16 variants have 3 round burst mode and no full auto, to make sure the soldier doesn't waste ammo in full auto.

I don't know why they would consider select fire as an attachment. Thats really dumb.

I don't think that rate of fire should count as an attachment. AT LEAST not in single player.

I love how one of the Cry-guys responded to this thread as like the 3rd comment but didn't attempt to answer my questions lol.
