air stomp/upgraded airstomp/advanced airstomp

Post » Wed Dec 01, 2010 7:48 pm

what is the difference? I have gotten all the way to advanced air stomp and i really dont know what the difference is, in the full game it should tell you what the upgrades actually do. Does anyone know the difference between airstomp/upgraded airstomp/advanced airstomp? Does it just make it more lethal?

The final upgrade makes you yell "FAAALLCOOOOONN PAUNCH!!"

But I actually think the final upgrade has faster recovery time after executing the stomp. Or maybe the 2nd upgrade does that. I don't know what the other one does.

the first upgrade adds "Air friction" to your abilities, to prevent people from falling, without jumping, to do Air stomp as well. Just hit A in the air, and see it yourself. And the 2nd Upgrade decreases the recovery time, so you don't die, as soon as you failed :D

Could you explain the "air friction" in more depth, i have been trying to figure that one out.

I'm usually best on any server, "most lethal" with numbers up to 20. Just today I completed a round as best player and most lethal, without dying once. Why am I bragging like this? To make this confession less painful: I can't deal with Air Stomp. I just can't. It's brought me ONE lousy kill in about 20 attempts. I gave up, I stopped using it :-D

Seriously you guys, how do you get 25 kills (to get the upgrade) with a piece of **** feature like that? Add to that the fact that the Proximity Tracker is the most useful module in existance and takes up the same slot...

Agreed. It's just too useless, really. Not the ability itself (tho its effectiveness, yes), but there are just things in that slot that are far, far more useful.

Ya proximity is much more useful, the air stomp needs serious buffing, the way i got all the upgrades was by making a sniper class with air stomp, going to the highest point on the map, which is like literally the highest point, you can get up there on the roof of the glass building near the mg, and all i did was snipe with a silencer, and whenever there were people below me i airstomped the **** out of them, it worked, was hella fun, but i dont do it anymore, and yes, i was camping:P

Air Stomp is waay too weak.

In the latest trailer it shows your character standing flatfooted and next to a guy and killing him with the air stomp!!!! If Skyline is the most vertical of all the maps then air stomp is going to be worthless and a waste of a mod spot.

It needs to be more effective at a much shorter height. even when I turn armor an and perform the stomp it still garbage.

upgrade 1 gives you more control in the air while performing the stomp

upgrade 2 shortens the recovery time after landing

:/

I don't think you get the system behind the stomp. Prox Alert is cool, but I (I, I, I) think the Stomp is more usefull then that. It's just... satisfying, landing a trible kill with that ability.

But a triple kill with the Stomp (without upgrades, I haven't unlocked the upgrades) would mean jumping down atleast 10 metres and when do you ever just happen to see 3 guys hanging out 10 metres below you waiting for you to jump? Never happens to me. Players move fast in this game and people never move in groups.

EDIT: In the last 3 hours I have managed to get mere 6 Air Stomp kills. If I want to see what the unlocks do before this demo ends I better hurry. Need 25 for the first - I'm guessing 50 for the second? -.-

Well, I now do the stomp intentionately. It get's in my mind after using, and learning the stomp, also, the triple kill was done in Crash site, when I jumped from the highest building to the spot near the HMG. 2 in Power, 1 cloaked. Also, you don't need really that high things. I manage to do Stomp kills from a glasshouse to the ground. Learning by doing :D Also, you have to look for opportunities, like people standing underneath you. Don't shoot, stomp, and before you stomp, activate armor for a better effect. Or you get shot, but you got in cover. Climb over the cover, flank the enemy, and give him a powerfull stomp in his head.

What's your Gamertag? I'd like to show you, when to use, and when not to use... otherwise, it's somehow impossible to do, because you can't always follow me :O Wish I had a capture card but... I'm not a millionaire...

Air stomp is one of those things that is fun as heck but not all that useful unless you practice it a good bit (much like punching in crysis wars). I actually appreciate tools that require a great deal of practice to master...If you can master it in a couple of hours it is not worth doing in my book. Give me 2 weeks for a couple of hours per day and I should be able to do it effectively...that is how it should be.

On a further note, I haven't played the demo but the proximity trigger is overpowered IMO. I'll have to play the pc demo to say for sure.
