In ODST you were in the city at night, towering sky scrappers and tight spaces thats probably why

maybe. it might also be that i have no connection to reach. i read the book after playing the game (horribly written btw)... maybe it was the feeling of "fighting for earth", but i don't really believe that.
i've never been to mombassa (and of course not to new mombassa) either (as i've never been on reach ;) ), but the audiotapes and the mombassa streets part, where you roamed the empty streets of a deserted major city transported a much better feeling of dispair than a covy cruiser glassing something in the background.
but back to the battles: there are a couple of big battles in ODST that came rather as a suprise, since all in all the game was more sneaky than other halo games.
so propably, halo reach just couldn't live up to my expectations (the teaser trailer! OMG! i rebought an xbox for that game), but i think they should've added more battles like the defense of halsey's lab to the parts in the city.

oh, and scarabs. when defending reach against a covy invasion they should've let us take down a couple of scarabs, if not a super-mega-xxl-badass-mother-of-all-scarabs.
remember the level pillar of autumn, when the scarab shows up and emile says something like "we can't get past that". i was smiling. finally i was about to take down at least one of those and then... then that sorry sob carter rams it with his pelican. since then, i can't stand that guy anymore. good thing he died with the scarab, serves him right!

and another edit - i wish 343i would make a reach:ODST game.

I thought the game was an action-packed super-thriller in the campaign.

It's only boring if you decided to stealth the whole thing.

DAMN YOU CARTER, DAMN YOU TO HELL!

lol

I loved the mission when you landed on the beach and the drop pods carrying the Elites land infront of you, it reminded me of Halo 1 where you land on the lush coastline (at the time it was the greatest thing I'd ever seen on xbox). Then we got to fly a long sword! I felt like I was 12 again lol.

I think if they make a Crysis 3 they should have a super jump that uses like 75% of your power. Nothing makes you feel more like a super soldier than being able to jump 50 feet high - kinda like the original Superman.

I felt the jump height in this game was pretty much the same as the jump height in other FPS games and was disempowering.

I want to be to jump out of a battle if surrounded, cloak in the air, land behind cover jump back in and ground smash (in SP only of course)

I never felt powerful in the game despite being able to kick cars, more super-ninja like than super-human. Plus I should be able to throw a garbage bag or mailbox 200 yards. He's supposed to be so strong but his jump and throwing were so weak.

lol this is my normal tactic in MP. After playing games like Ninja Gaiden and Shinobi I don't think it comes close to super ninja.

Just remembered another thing, you can pick up random objects like coffee cups and chairs (completely pointless imo waste of resources) but you get a limited time when you grab an enemy. It would have been cool to hold onto an enemies or corpse and use it as a shield, would come handy when your suit needs to recharge lol.

Haha yeh maybe a little.

I've played most of the main titles for this gen, the only title that I felt really shone out this past year is Blur, the rest have either been disappointing or have very little replay value.

I think that was one of the reason I moved away from Halo Reach, they released it with so few maps, it was obvious they had already planned out all the DLC, and I feel it's the same way with Crysis 2. They'll release mappacks with maps that should have been in the original release. Anyway I'm side tracking, it's a business at the end of the day.

Well, they put alot of effort into the campaign, which you don't see alot of nowadays from developers.

very true. 6h has become standard for fps campaigns, MOH's 4 hours felt like a middle finger in my face.. crytek did a great job delivering 10 hours.
hopefully this will make other publisher rethink their campaign designs.

Hmm well you know my feelings about that, I applaud them for making a 10 hour game, but they recycled the enemies. I don't think many videogames could have their stories stretched out for 10 hours without the gameplay suffering.
