Port forwarding for XBOX?

Post » Tue Mar 17, 2009 7:00 am

Hi, I've been having some epic lag issues with Crysis 2 on 360. . . It seems if you don't have host you're pretty much F-ed in the A when you're playing online. I already have the ports open for XBL (3074), but I don't know if Crysis requires any more ports open. I'm kinda getting tired of emptying a magazine on someone only for the killcam to show them just turning around and nailing me with a quarter-second burst.

Also, off-topic, anybody else notice that max armor doesn't do much at all? Might be just another lag issue. .

I'm not sure what the exact ports are each game uses. I'd recommend just DMZing your xbox since you really don't need to worry too much about people hacking your xbox and DMZ will open all of your ports. You'll need to setup a static IP for your xbox when connecting to your router. If you don't know how there's plenty of tutorials online. This game's host selection is kinda gimped at the moment but I assume that'll be addressed in the next patch(i hope.)

Max armor doesn't do **** when you hit it within a second or two of being shot due to lag. I also believe this is why I see myself getting 1bullet killed with a torso shot so often in kill cams. Lag causes a ton of problems with just about everything.

Good luck with it.

How about this you throw a grenade right by their feet and it explodes they kill you, it shows no armor on and they run off Scott free. Doesn't make sense how with Max armor on you still die from a grenade.. Yet they continue living without armor on.... and an explosion right by their feet....

The only Fix I know of is to play in small parties because when you play in large parties it seems to lag the game up significantly. Then again I play with a few people who have rediculous connection speeds so I suppose that helps on my end.

I might have to try that DMZ. . . I haven't done it before, it's always been recommended to port forward. Thanks for the tip.

@CryAnto: That was what I noticed. At least you confirmed my suspicions.

Yea, I've seen a ton of killcams that even tho they were frustrating were also hilarious. I've thrown grenades dead on targets, watched it blow up on their feet while they kill me. Then I watch the killcam and it shows me never throwing the grenade.

My favorite is when I'm playing with 1bar. I've learned to stop firing after about 10 bullets if my aim is on point. It's super funny to stop shooting, reload, wait 2 seconds then see their body drop and i get +kill points even tho I hadn't fired a shot in about 3 seconds.

**** is frustrating but pretty funny if you don't take it too seriously. Jumping is hilarious too... instead of firing back to kill an opponent.. Just sprint around him in circles and super jump a lot. Watch him waste 3 clips trying to hit you with the lag. It's hilarious.

You'd think you'd have this problem with only PC games. But no. A console is just as equal friendly to the same fate.... So no system is safe Except for SP.

Alright, I did the port forwarding on one rig and DMZ-ed the other. Results are as follows:

This game is kinda broken, in my not-so-humble opinion.

After going through about three-fourths of the 'Known Issues on XBOX' thread, they're describing many of the same issues as I am, and you guys were right, port forwarding/DMZ didn't do anything.

Rumor has it that a big patch is upcoming, so I guess more to follow.

Are you sure that you need to forward the Xbox ports?

First, check what what your NAT Type is in C2. If it is Open then you don't need to forward ports. Go to speedtest and post the Down/Up speed and ping. Where you live also?
