I really liked both but I thought FO2 was the best. I really hated the time limit in FO1 to replace the water purification chip and was glad to see there was no time limit on the retrieving the GECK.

Fallout 2 because it was bigger.

Fallout 1 was a more cohesive game though, I liked the story a lot more and the setting seems to have greater atmosphere.

I picked Fallout 2 mostly because the world was a lot bigger and therefore I've been able to go back to it far more times and still discover new things. Also the small improvements to the interface / game system were nice as well. And the car. Fuzzy dice and combat shotguns man. And that song that plays on the world map when you get the car, top notch.

@B4D_9R4MM3R: All 3 games are available at a couple digital distribution sites now for under 20 bucks total, plus there was a demo for Fallout 1 that you could check out. Try googling for it, or maybe NMA still hosts it at http://www.nma-fallout.com

I am not sure if this is a bad word.

Has anyone played Fallout 2 Restoration Project?

Yeh I'm in the middle of my first playthrough with it right now actually. Killap deserves mad respect for all the work he put into it. It's definitely worth checking out.

For me Fallout 1 is the choice (for Story) by a very narrow margin. I loved the content, story and all that of both games. What I much preferred about Fallout 1 was starting as a vault dweller with little (in-character) pre-determined knowledge of the state of things in the world. In Fallout 2, the main character is (in theory) more accustomed to the current state of things having lived out in the 'wastes' of the world. While both character origin types are good ones for a post-apocalyptic setting, I have to say that I preferred the "out of the vault" option as opposed to "from a tiny village" option to start my character. I think I have to go with fallout 2 and that decision took a long time trust me, I havn't played many games since that are that immersive, the story wasn't forced it was just all around you, it didn't seem to matter if you got to the end or not it was the journey on the way, the town you saw the people you exploded, the crazy stuff you talked your way in and out of and just the feeling that you are there in this big wide world where for once you aren't Mr. special, who gets everything handed to him through the usual breadcrumbs of storyline that inevitably lead to the 'you win' screen. Also the 5000 other aspects of fallout which I bore people with especially since a certain game came out.

My actual runner up was tactics, but when i actually think why i like tactics is mainly for the fact I love the fallout combat system, so tactics is a game for me when i just solely want to kill things, its more like an addition to fallout rather than its own game maybe? in the sense that it doesn't have too much of a scope with storyline.

Yeah im yarning on, i like fallout okay? :geek:

I'm not sure what is meant by the content question so I put story.

For me Fallout 2 didn't compare to Fallout 1. It was as if inexperienced kids had made F2, as opposed to the masters that crafted F1. F2 had too much silliness, too much stuff that didn't belong in the world, and certain locations were just plain bad or depressing. Please soak up F1 and pretend F2 didn't exist.

I chose Fallout 2, because I think it's marginally better than Fallout. Why? Why? Why? There is one reason for this: Size and the incredible amount of pointless things to do :D I really and truly love both games, but F2 does draw the longest straw. :o Renesco the rocketman

I love Fallout 1 because it was the original, meanwhile Fallout 2 has more quests, best allied NPCs, and more speech options. It's Fallout 1, an improved one.

Both are very good games, they have very good linequests and atmosphere background.

On the other hand I don't like Fallout Tactics - It bored me. It's like Pyro Studios's Commandos, but way worst playability. Todos esos momentos se perderán en el tiempo... Como lágrimas en la lluvia. Es hora de morir.

I actually enjoyed Fallout Tactics most of all.

Don't get me wrong, I was creeped out as hell on my first walk down the eerie corridor to encounter the master.

And I loved the variety of available party-members, and regions and characters in Fallout 2.

But overall, I greatly preferred the mechanics of Fallout Tactics. Various positions that effected your mobility, cover, and firing ability. The great mix of perks and (for me personally) enhanced unarmed skills. But my favorite thing in tactics was the combat mode of Continuous Turn-Based. I thought the idea was ingenius; not only can you fight in "real-time", but you're still connected to the element of turn-based combat through your action points, which regenerated based on (if I recall correctly) your agility and perception. This, I felt, brought the element of strategy and judicious spending of action points, face-to-face with the intense pace of real-time combat.

I also liked that you worked out of a head-quarters with the Brotherhood of Steel, and that as missions progress onwards you'd see new people in the bunker, or have new services available. However as many people will say, Tactics lacked the RPG, Story, and World-Changing decisions of Fallout 1 & 2, and it did. But I think that if you took the system/mechanics from Fallout Tactics, and merged it with story elements and world-influencing decisions from its predecessors, you would have an unparalleled Fallout game.

I put "Fallout 2 because of its content" because I liked the Enclave. I always think Fallout had a better storyline and setting, but the setting for Fallout 2 made sense(what, are people going to live in sheds for 80 years and make no attempt to rebuild?), and I always have a soft spot for the Enclave and the places had more history. It had more content and it was good content, so I guess that was the best answer

Fallout 2 was a suped-up Fallout, that's why I liked it. It came out a year later, the interface was made a lot better, it was bigger, longer, had more items and perks, and didn't screw up anything or fool with stuff like most people do with sequels. It was the perfect sequel. They brought it out in a timely fashion, made it bigger, and took in the feedback they had to fix anything that was wrong, and generally made every aspect better. Of course after Fallout 3 or 4 I might have gotten tired of playing the same game every year, but that's why they made Tactics and BOS.

Thought it was fit to explain because I couldn't find a right answer, and I'm more important than you.

If they could remake a tactics again that would be awesome. I always wanted to like that game, it seemed like a good idea, but everytime I try I give up on the first level. Didn't they only have Chris Taylor and one weekend to do the QA/Testing or something?

Fallout 2 was a great game. i wish bethesda hadn't left so much content out of fallout 3, its a real disappointment. theres not a single gun from either fallout 1 or 2 in it, except the bb gun. hardly any of the armours are in it, theres no tribals, the karma aspect of fallout 3 is ruined compared with the first 2, theres no cool descriptions for items or really anything like there was in the first 2 games, basically if your looking for a good fallout experience, stick with fallout 1 & 2, fallout 3 is just an oblivion rip off with some new twists.

I picked Fallout 2, but in reality I haven't finished either 1 or 2 so I guess I should have waited to vote

Seriously though, I've spent some time in both worlds, and FO 2 just seems more appealing to me because you start off on the outside instead of in a vault.

I love Fallout 1 and 2, I like more F1 than F2 because it has an unique story and its contents, I can't explain with words the lots of hours I play this game, even now I play it

I think F2 was like Fallout1-with-more-things you know, all as good as F1 but not even so addictive (like Nuka Cola)

Fallout tactics was good, but a prefer a good RPG than a tactical game so it didn't like me as it's predecessors

For me Fallout1 is the best RPG even created

Thank you gamesas for that game and welcome back

Actually I play Fallout 3 but is not a Fallout or this is how I see it, is more like an Futuristic Oblivion, with this I want to say, there is no place better than home ;)

I totally agree with that statement. In Fallout 1 and 2 I always looked for new information about the fallout world, but in the third there wasn't much new stuff. I really hate the idea of a super mutant behemoth in Bethseda's creation. In my opinion it is a very non-cannon element.
Anyway I voted for Fallout 2 because I played it much more and I know its every little secret.
