Weight

I'm wondering if V13 will keep with the inventory "Weight" restrictions.

Weight in MMO can be a boring/cumbersome detail; however I think it adds a certain degree of realism. It just doesn't make sense to me (in other MMO's) where a plate chest piece takes up the same ammount of space as a playing card.

Average carrying weight in the Fallout Trilogy is about 150 pounds right? Won't be able to carry "backup" armor sets.

Imo, the best way to manage inventory would be to have a maximum weight limit and a square grid for actual space.

It wouldn't make any sense to carry around 1 million feathers, just because it's under your weight capacity.

That'd be like carrying around a football field full of feathers.

Dungeon Seige (to just name one game) IMO handle this very well.

It's the one game that I love almost as much as Fallout Series.

It should undoubtedly be included in the game.

I think you the only limit should be the maximum weight your character is capable of holding. Good old Str stat in action. A light weight sharp shooter shouldn't have any reason to be walking around with a backpack full of armor because he has the slots to hold it. Image

Maximum weight limit but don't know about the inventory grid thingy.... might be pain in the ass at times or it should have many slots and not like 20 or so. :) Pretty much like in Fallen Earth on this matter maybe a bit handier to use of course.

I really have come to love the way f3 has come to deal with weight. Certain items such as chems and ammo have no weight, while other weapons are significant in weight. I find this fair for in game use.

However, when everything has weight, you need to plan ahead. This was critical in F1 and F2. This made the game fun as heck. I loved leaving presents for myself around the game, to use when the fertilizer hits the ventilator. I arrive in New Reno nearly dead, low on ammo and chems. I then proceed to one of my lockers I filled up earlier and find enough stimpacks and ammo to keep on truckin.

Lots of lulz

Do you think it would be appropriate if your run speed would be affected by your weight at all times? You don't see people at the olympics wearing Body armor and 120 pounds of loose equipment, because you run faster if your completely unencumbered. By doing this it would give people more diversity in play style, might make people choose to wear lighter armor for the benefit of it being lighter. And hopefully it will prevent the end game from looking like MechWarrior (with all the power armor).

And it will be a great help to people who have lost thier gear, they'll be able to outrun anyone trying to poach them as an easy mark.

I would rather like to see a more real weight cap. So your character cant have 10 armors on him, but a simple solution for that is.. wait for it... BRAHMINS!!! When you need to transport lots of goods, just tame a brahmin take him to your hideout where all your sh*t is and fill her up (the brahmin drags a cart or a car as in f1,f2).

Would also like to see that if you carry looots of stuff you cant run as fast :/ good for being a scout or something Image

People need to stop think that a more "real" game can be a good game.I saw allot of so called more real games and they svck alot.As real as it fallout 1 and 2 should be fallout mmo too.And yeah if i got 400 strenght i wana carry with me 400 kg equipment.Look at aoc or mortal online ,those games "tend" to be like in reality moves and actions and the both game svck shiet. If u will begin to say "hmm i think we don't need auction houses and mails becouse we are in a post apoc time" you just begin to svck.STOP with more reality kids ...more real games are hard to implement and they are not fun. Im not saying that you should make it totally real, where you only carry max 2 weapons, one armor and a bag of supplies.

I want more of an inventory like in... diablo. So you have lots of space but it can be filled up. :/ And also implement the normal weight limit that exist in F1,F2. I'm just sick of the bottomless sack of noweight that exists in like almost all mmo, where you run around with 20 weapons, 5 armors, 600 healing pots etc etc etc, I'm just saying that putting a little weight/inventory limit will make people think a little before going somewhere, becouse if that doesn't exist it will just end with people running around with loaaaaaads of ammo and healing devices, several weapons for close/range combat and.... well they will probably still have the best armor they can get on them...

Well having a % drop rate on death will also make them think a bit.. I'm against 100% droprate on death, thats just f*cked up boring when loosing gear worth a fortune and maybe ore and stuff that you have been gathering for the latest hour...

I agree that allowing a game to be too realistic WILL ruin it but there is a middleground... I hope.

and im not a kid  Image
