Fallout on my Phone

Post » Thu Apr 02, 2009 6:16 pm

I ported over here off the Fallout MMOG data wave. I love reminiscing the old days; of picking off brahman with a modified laser rifle, sticking blocks of C4 onto the backs of unsuspecting super mutants as they walk back to their buddies in the next room, and decorating the desert with puddles of glowing soup.

I wanted to get a copy of the old games, but I don't have the requirements. 'sob' (I'm a Mac slave)

OS: 98/Me/2000/XP/Vista
CPU: 200 MHz
RAM: 32 Mb

Wait a second... besides the operating system, the original versions of fallout would run very smoothly on my PHONE!

If I can recall properly, the game exclusively utilized the pointer... which is now my finger... and Ill bet those old sprite graphics would look pretty decent on the smaller screen...

So, gamesas, are you listening? porting Fallout 1, 2, & or tactics to the 'app stores' would be awesome!
Awesome for me: I love the game
Awesome for your upcoming MMO, by increasing the general public awareness of what will be the next greatest Online Franchise.
Awesome for your share holders: make some profit by turning an old game into the next #1 app!

Some one send this over to Chris, if he's to busy I'm available as a PM consultant.

Alas, while we would like to port Fallout to the iPhone or Android or some such, we do not have the rights to do so.

Your best bet is to contact Bethesda.

Thanks!

By saying gamesas doesn't have the rights, do you mean that Bethesda took all rights for anything "Fallout" being made/transfered/converted?

gamesas only has the rights to use the first three Fallout games (Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout: Tactics) in there current form, patching, porting, etc would not be allowed. If gamesas wanted to do that they would need to contact Bethesda since they own the franchise now.

The reason things like Fallout Online for instance can happen is because the original contract states gamesas can make an online Fallout game while Bethesda can keep doing the offline stuff.

They aren't exactly gamesas's Fallout games but I think there were rumors of a Fallout: New Vegas Tactics on the iPhone a few weeks ago?

If that's your best bet, I wouldn't even try. Bethesda is too obsessed with New Vegas and their new games to bother with anything else. If you're lucky, you'll get a computer generated reply. There's nothing like a trail of blood to find your way back home

Both games (FO and FO2) have been released for Mac OS X (and at least one previous Mac OS), though are not available at Apples store http://www.apple.com/games/articles/2002/09/fallout2/ -- you'll have to find it somewhere else.
