hmm only just 10 Descent games Duper? Well I counted 15

Descent:
1.) Descent: 7 Level Preview Demo
2.) Descent: Operation Saturn 15 Level Preview [Bundled Software only]
3.) Descent: First Strike
4.) Descent: Levels of The World
5.) Dimensions For Descent

Descent II:
6.) Descent II: 3 Level Preview Demo
7.) Descent II: Destination Quartzon 8 Level Preview Demo [Bundled Software only]
8.) Descent II: Counterstrike!
9.) Descent II: The Infinite Abyss
10.) Descent I and II: The Defintive Collection

Descent 3:
11.) Descent 3: 3 Level Preview Demo
12.) descent 3: Sol Ascent 5 Level Preview Demo [Bundled Software only]
13.) Descent 3: The Saga Continues
14.) Descent 3: Mercenary
15.) Descent: Venture Pack 8-)

As for a Descent IV: Invasion well that is the last name that rings my bell, even that it was a fan based concept using Descent 3's technology which was based on the Fusion engine programmed for the 3dfx 355 Avenger rasterizer which became the Voodoo3 chip, the Glide API was the best for the Fusion engne it had no bugs or glitching just perfect scenes OpenGL and Direct3D were added for support but these didn't bring the Fusion Engine to it's best looks and use.

And we all know what happened to 3dfx they were bought over by NVIDIA Cooperation, on December 21 2000 after 3dfx closed their doors on December 15 2000.

soa D4 using the Fusion Engine would seem somewhat useless, so it was delayed and delayed , and this also tooks it's toles. Descent IV: Invasion was the last thing that came to mind by some afns, more likea mod for D3 but with a campagn taking the sotry futher and beyond the plot of Descent 3: The Saga Returns.

for the open Descent Foundation I did a role script for such a campagn and it has been completed I also completed a mission pack for this D4 they were working on, it attracted alot of happy faces, but I dunno if the ODF is still alive and I kinda can't remember where the website of it is, might be because of the rough few weeks I experienced, my mind has been lost somewhat with a few things, the ncle I lost of cancer, it just piles up. :( Holder Of The World's Largest Descent / Freespace Collection:

I was refering to the release of D3 since you don't typically wait in expectation of the 4th iteration from the FIRST release.

Which has been about ten years since D3 went Gold. ...plus or minus as it doesn't really matter.

And of course as the more popular games are going to get released first (in hopes of regaining a stable financial base) it doesn't look like we're going to see another Descent release for while. ... give it another 4 years.... unless one is quietly being worked on. Then look at 2 years or so.

as far as my references go there has neven been a Gold Edition from any of the descent series, the only real Gold Edition from an gamesas Space shooter game is Freespace 2:

This one was only released in the United Kingdom, as for D3 10 games? that is incorrect, just 5 at the least and this is without the Mac. Linux, USA & EUR versions, just the different versions of the games themselves ;)

Descent IV is like gamesas's Duke Nukem Forever, it does take for ever, that is something I have to admit   Holder Of The World's Largest Descent / Freespace Collection:

Are you referring to my statement about "D3 going gold"?

If you are, "going gold" is/was an industry term used to describe the status of a game that had gone to print. (be put on disks and shipped out)

If you aren't .. then nevermind. :)
