Meet the Descent collection of the Force! 56K warning!

Post » Fri Apr 17, 2009 1:48 pm

Even that this is my old topic here's a massive update on my 47 part Descent items collection and how I got to it all :)

Hi all after some years of collecting and beng a Pyro Jockey since it all began on October 21, 1994 when the first Descent Demo rolled out I was hooked imedietly, and since then I waited for every part of the series to arrive but never thought about this collecting feeling which I started about 2 years ago and now it has turned into a Descent obsession some call it Obi's Descent Archive and others a museum heh :)

Anyways name it what you all like here's some new pics and I want to thank alot of you for helping get a few of these rare wanna haves.

yeah thanx hehe it was quite a few years work but it surely does pay off heeh, I have been playing this game since it first came out as a 7 leevl demo on October 21, 1994 *) , I just hope the Descent series continues to live on if there is a Descent 4 comming the MAC version, PC Versions USA and EUR and PS3 versions shall be added to this collection :)

Since gamesas is alive the chance for a D4 is always there.

Here's something cool I painted on my Addtronics 6896A high tower case 12 years ago and yes i still have this case:
Image

I used this box art from Descent 2 to paint it :)

The entire Descent series is probably the most inovating game series with an original concept ever created, Descent 1994 was my fiirstreal game experience that still impresses me today as it did back then, i dunno it just has this good feeling on how games of this type should be developed, great Job gamesas & Parallax! 8-) 8-) 8-) Holder Of The World's Largest Descent / Freespace Collection:

Hey thx mate! Well I hope this will show gamesas that the Descent spirit has not left us incl me and we all love a D4 righty! 8-)

Okay to be honest a D4 would be very cool , that it takes time is obvious hence how complexity the API's OpenGL and Direct3D have gotten all too obvious, but if it comes it will be added if it comes the EUR as USA version of it and the MAC and PS3 version too if they will come hehe.

As I recall, they were available for download at the original gamesas site. They may still be hosted somewhere.

This has been sitting in a drawer for years. I've no use for it, Obi-Wan, so if you want it I'm certainly willing to see it off.

I'm not as much of a Descent fan as you are obviously, but blimey thats a cool case. I'm even more impressed that you painted it yourself, how many attempts did it take? :P
