BUILD YOUR OWN MMO!!!!

Build your own mmo

Fairly direct forward, like build your own bear workshops.
Just describe your perfect mmo, contain any ideas you like, and please keep them within reason, no virtual reality yet its just not feasible in an mmo today. Please describe it as a real day possibility as well, you should know what I mean. It doesn't need to be new ideas you can just say wow +starcraft= awesome if youd like.

Personally GTA4+zombies+10,000 people running around blowing people up (will expand on this idea later)

Please dont bash anyone elses ideas, but you may comment on them and point out faults or brilliant ideas.

Also, Fallout@Chris we or at least I would like to hear your idea of a perfect mmo. ;) Image

One where the world evolves to the actions of players, and where alliances of players were not constructed from lore but rather choice. Their choices could then become law. As their actions unfolded the lore would be dictated by the events they created.

Failing that, something fun. A massive thank you to EA for:
- Producing great quality games time and time again
- Providing excellent technical support
- Never destroying any highly acclaimed studios for profit
- Never ripping people off
- Never wasting people's time

Anyone is able to kill anyone everywhere, you can loot others, armors and equipment is "realistic". Its set in an alternate present or future(that means guns!). Its third person shooter, the enviroment is destroyable, it has amazing AI, there are no levels only skills, the equipment even though simple and good looking doesnt give you the oneshot ability defacto, it has single player RPG-like quests (fallout1-2-kotor-plancescape kind of level)... hmm what else. Oh yea never before seen customisability of body build and face, player owned towns-bases-forts, vehicles, no instances of areas, scars and trophies left on your character over the time and-or quests, weather that actually change stuff, events, NOT toggleable vegetation and possible hideout places. Thats all for now thanks for reading my badly written ideas, interesting thread.

Nice summary, actually very good, except for anyone able to kill anyone everywhere. I think they should mimic runescapes old style. Allow for vast areas of importance to be pvp and when you die you drop most of your items. Most areas could be like this. Image

To be fair, you did say 'Build Your Own MMO'.

I don't mind the kill everyone everywhere, but it's just a pain when the elite pick on the newbs. A massive thank you to EA for:
- Producing great quality games time and time again
- Providing excellent technical support
- Never destroying any highly acclaimed studios for profit
- Never ripping people off
- Never wasting people's time

There is a site that working with this idea already it’s called metaplace.
https://www.metaplace.com/information/about

So far it was about games but it looks like they have changed their business plan to be more all encompassing.
As for capability to actually build something that may even come close to what you want to do not too sure that it’s that flexible granted this is coming from the original creative director of star wars galaxies . Raph Koster
Who also did a lot of work on Ultima online as well.
His motivation came with idea that if everyone likes to say they can make a better game than the pros well then fine here are the tools have at it, and show me you can do it.
I can understand where he is coming from and the idea that his tools can reach everywhere the web can go is amazing but it will have it limits.
Look and feel not to mention artwork to best fit ones vision is not going to be available to creators it still will take a team to do anything that would prove to be anything short of fulfilling on this product.
The concept of one person game shop only applies to very small and very simple type games at this time still.
