I can't get this game to install.

Before, when I tried it on my Windows 2000 machine, it would complain that it cannot be installed on NT systems.

On Vista, the installer starts just fine, however, after choosing the directory to install to, it just closes and exits back to the "Minimum install, maximum install, or exit?" part of the installer, nothing gets written.

I tried running the installer as admin and in win95 compability mode but still nothing.

Does anybody know of a way to get the Windows version of this game to install on Vista? WITHOUT playing it in dos mode? DOSBOX didn't fare too well trying to run this game either.

Not sure why it wouldn't work in computability mode so I can't help as far as windows goes, but what kind of problems were you having in dosbox? I know default dosbox emulates a really slow machine, you could try speeding up or slowing down the cpu cycles for better performance. I forget the exact commands but they should be listed in help.

Sound problems, which have always been an issue in dosbox.

But if I can, I would seriously prefer to get it running in Windows mode

current version of DOS Box fixed a lot of things, though TieFighter CD is still pretty damn slow -- i'll get that working one of these days.
