Fallout Trilogy - No music

Post » Sun Apr 26, 2009 11:41 am

Hi,

I just recently purchased the Fallout Trilogy. After installing it, I went and started up Fallout (1)... this is where it all starts going down hill.

The intro music played, but as soon as I got to the menu... it was dead silent: as if there was no music. I tried fixing it on my own (checking the fallout.cfg), but it did not help me at all. I need help to fix my game.

My soundcard is fine, I think it's version of the game (my version is Canadian). Please help.

The Canadian DVD is missing two files from Fallout Tactics. Here's the patch info:

Thanks FalloutsChris, at least one problem has been fixed.

Like I said, I cannot hear music in main menu, and ingame (in Fallout 1 AND 2).

Hmmm. Have you tried updating your audio drivers recently? The last time someone had that problem (not having music in FO1/2) it was a driver issue.

The other thing to do is check the ini file and make sure that paths are correct. NMA has a good article on what the ini should look like:

Would this path be correct:

music_path1=D:\Program Files\gamesas\Fallout Collection\Fallout\data\sound\music\
music_path2=D:\Program Files\gamesas\Fallout Collection\Fallout\data\sound\music\

This is what it is if I install it.

If that's the installed path, it looks good. I don't see anything wrong with it, at least, but it depends on your system.

Try copying this into the cfg file:

[sound]
cache_size=448
device=-1
dma=-1
initialize=1
irq=-1
master_volume=22281
music=1
music_path1=data\sound\music\
music_path2=data\sound\music\
music_volume=22281
port=-1
sndfx_volume=22281
sounds=1
speech=1
speech_volume=22281

(And we received your customer service inquiry, but this seems the place to try and sort this out.)

It works! Thanks a bunch, FalloutsChris.

Yes, I see you've received my customer service inquiry, and I see that it would be better to try and troubleshoot in the forums.

Thanks again,
Nixon
