PROJECT: Graphic Novel based on original Fallout

Post » Mon Apr 27, 2009 7:21 am

Hey fellow Wastelanders, tonight while playing through my third run (first run since 1998) I came across the desire to pay homage to this great game by creating a fan made graphic novel of the game's canonical storyline.

I have a long history of drawing and creating characters/graphic novels since my early childhood. Don't worry, I am talented and will not present stick figures in Vault 13 suits.

Being a veteran of this franchise I plan to make it as canonical as possible using my own personal experience (albeit very rusty since '98) and the memoirs of the Vault Dweller found in the Fallout 2 manual.

In order to craft an in depth story there are some liberties I will have to take on my own obviously... like what particularly happened in Junktown (as this is not fully explained in the memoirs) and giving the Vault Dweller a name and face, etc. even though I have an idea of what exactly I'll be doing in such parts.

I don't plan on churning this one out next week, its a project that I take pride in and even more important - devoted time. During the course of this project I will present my concept renditions of familiar characters and will ask for feedback and criticism.

Also any little help, opinions, tidbits or facts of Fallout's canon-city shared here would be greatly appreciated as this is the main reason I created the thread was for help/support from fellow fans.

I will be updating this thread accordingly... and present some conceptional art next weekend.

Cheers. Image Image

Neat idea, but ...

Why do a graphic novel on the games? Why not do one based on the Fallout world and explore other areas?

You can give mention to the locations found in the Fallout games (speaking mainly of FO 1 & 2) if you need to.

First, this will give you all the creative freedom that you need
Second, you might be able to avoid having the B company on your head for using their property with out premission
Third, Its a big world and many vaults out there. :)

Sounds like a neat idea. Maybe a comic book adaption like those cool Stephen King "The Stand" ones:

Just don't make a mistake and have "The Red Shirt Guy" point it out for you:
