Very true. You know though the title is living up to itself. Duke Nukem Forever (aka Taking Forever). I know bad pun.
From reading up on DNF it seems that the problem with its development is "perfection". The team gets 90% done then says, ya know what we can make it better! All the data scrapped and thrown into the trash bin. Back to ground zero. I can understand with any artist (even as I a poet on the side) that perfection is always on their minds. To tweak something here and there and still ultimately never be happy with it. This is where 3D Realms should've just finished it. No taking a break and looking it over again, no continue til its ready to market.
Then I can see them looking back and tweaking a few things before the final product which would be a compromise with the team as a whole to say "its perfect for now". Because perfection itself is a carrot dangling in front of a horse. That horse will walk until it passes out to get that carrot. 3D Realms is the horse and it looks like they finally collapsed under the pressure.
I told the Overseer of Vault 13 I'd give everything to save everyone, and so I did, I saved them all. Since then I've felt loneliness.
