i'm sure this has been asked b4 and oodles of searching has given me part answers only so i'm looking for a complete and compehensive response.(and yes after searching the net for hrs b4 coming here....which i should have in the 1st place i'm tired and too lazy to scour the forums in-depth). i only bought this because it said it was compatible with win xp...so i installed it on my older xp machine. i dare not try this on my win 7 machine.

just bought the fallout trilogy(not the collection although they may be the same at their core *shrug*). had no problems installing, noticed it was ver 1.2 which i found was supposed to the updated and patched version of the games(fo1 and fo2). i even managed to get as far junktown b4 the problem even started. this annoying black screen/refresh nonsense where the screen goes black but moving my cursor around or any npc moving reopens the play screen but not the bottom part then goes again (every 3-7 seconds). i've tried everything from my known bag of tricks such as running in different win modes(95/98 etc), a few other tweaks and nothing helped. i read about this high res graphics patch which some people say fixed their problems with fallout 2...did this also work for fallout1? did it work for the trilogy pack? the compatibilty for the high res patch only mentions the white disk FO collection not the trilogy.

some of the other solutions were ridiculous. i have no intention of uninstalling my updated vid drivers or anything that annoying. just isn't worth it. i just wanted to play the originals so i had some reference and background on the original fo mythology and history and get a better sense of what FOOL might be about(sure i could have simply read the fo bible but learning while playing the game gives context.
