Seeing as the other fallout games were rated M, I would assume that it's going to be 17+. But since it's an MMO, I bet it's going to be rated T, mostly for a much larger player-base.

chris has confirmed that beta will be restricted to a certain age. assuming this restriction is not arbitrary, i imagine the minimum age will be 18.

If this gets a rating lower than M I'll be incredibly heartbroken. Deprive me of the ability to become a porm star who enjoys shooting people in the groin, and you may as well take my life while you're at it. War, war never changes...

It wouldn't be a Fallout game if they toned down the violence, colorful language, and post apocalyptic humor. I'm guessing 18+.

Yes, but the true question is, is the age restriction based on physical or mental age?

physical since the brain has yet to mature at the age of 18. (which affects the persons mental health) Image

Since most Betas have a NDA and therefor some kind of legal contract, all betas I have seen had a minimum age restriction of 18 years.
If you are under 18 and sign a legal contract, it istn′t legally valid.

I'm hoping for 18+ along with the majority -not that I would run around, pimping out my wife to make a few extra caps to buy a stimpak... ok, maybe I would...

18+ as a general rule of thumb for maturity, though I've seen 17-'s more mature than some 40+s Image

I would be really sad if they removed mature content to make the game accessible to a "broader" audience. Honestly, I think the empty niche in MMOs IS the advlt demographic. How many quality MMOs feature advlt-only content? I'd really like to see gamesas make a bold move with this game and keep the advlt feel. I'm tired of game studios tip-toeing around marketability. That's why the video game scene has been so stale for so long.

This.

I have never encountered a beta that did not have an 18+ age restriction.

I've seen under 18 betas, because it didn't have an NDA. Usually generic MMO clones that don't have one, but this one being unique and more interesting, I'm guessing it will. Which will mean 18+. Goooooooood Morning Vietnaaamm!

I don't see why there can't be a maturity filter built into the game. If an account or character is flagged as a mature player, then dialog & NPCs will reflect the mature setting. If its set to PG-13, then the game can reflect that instead.

If you remember back to Duke Nukem 3D they did a similiar thing with the Strippers (full nvde VS Bikinis)

To be honest I've seen 16 year olds that are more mature than people of 18 years. I qualify for the beta if it is 18+, and I would hate the mature theme to be cut out, but 16+ wouldn't be too bad if it was implemented and would broaden the fanbase. Image
