A possible plot?

Post » Thu May 21, 2009 10:41 pm

While signing up for the FOOL beta test on website I noticed some words scratched on the table saying "The Master Lives", If this is true then it would certinatly be interesting in the final game, although how he gets out of being blown to smithereens by the nuclear explosion or by the "Vault Dweller" is beyond me.

What do you think of this? I'm gonna to eat you up and be singing that 'Happy Tummy' song.

A cult of worship perhaps "What would your good do if evil didn't exist, and what would the earth look like if all the shadows disappeared?"

Yeah, I wouldn't think he's actually alive, probably a cult of the Master belives so. The Vault - Fallout Wiki * Fallout Online * Fallout IRC Channel * Fallout: New Vegas

The way I see it, isn't there an option where you just shoot him a lot and he dies? If so it could be something like the FEV kept him fakedead and hes trying to rebuild his now-shattered Super Mutant army.

It's not impossible that they turned the truth a bit, like instead of thinking **SPOILER for those who havn't played f1** that The Master died in the megablast, they thought he ascended and became a god or something :D And now they are carrying out his work that he "left" to them on earth. Image

Could be, or someone could have taken his name as if "continuing his legacy", "The Master" wasn't his real name after all. I'm gonna to eat you up and be singing that 'Happy Tummy' song.

There was more than one mole rat god, there can be more than one Master. Not only that, the master was half machine half goo, makes you wonder if the other half of the goo was somewhere else

If he's "alive" again, I'd better start stocking on pulse grenades!

It makes me wonder though, he was attached to a chair, and he was goop, seeing how goopy he was, I think he could just, you know, come back. I've seen big bads survive much worse than a nuke exploding.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Master

I hardly believe that there is another master. He was probably extremely "lucky" to survive the vat bathing. And the other half of goo is there :P first there was goo and machine, goo climbed machine - TADA goo/machine. >,> Image

I like the theory that it may be a cult of sorts that still believes he's alive, a bit like some people think Elvis might be.

But the Master was a hugely mutated 'thing', and not 100% organic, if he somehow could survive the blast then lord knows what that level of radiation could do to him. And lets not forget the blast happened inside an old vault, those things would probably do just a good a job of keeping a blast in as they would out.

If the Master is alive it would be awesome though i agree more on the idea of it being someone replacing him. I would love to see Marcus again though... :D

Would be fun if they made some overall plot where super mutans have found a way to cure their sterility (like in fallout tactics).

I just want a mmorpg that actually strives for something, that somehow can be "won" by tons of tons of work (and it should be extremely hard, but not impossible) and when that quest somehow is done it will change the ingame world a bit. Image

This is something I'd also like to see.

Too often the players are just glued on top of the world created, with little or no way of affecting how it is.

Of course this'd mean quite a horrific amount of extra work for the developers. Furthermore, it should not be easy to make permament changes, especially for one person.

But just that the chance existed, why, it would give many players a real goal to strive for. Instead of just awful grinding and level gathering.

Edit: I forgot to comment on "The Master Lives"

Now, who would carve such a thing on a table? It also pictures a heart pierced by an arrow and the name "Harold", a name we all recognise. Who would carve such things on a table? Someone who knows about The Master in the first place. Harold is a more public figure, as such I'd not pay too much attention on him in this discussion. But only a handful of people actually knew of The Master. As such, the first thing I'd reckon is that the writer is a mutant, the Vault Dweller, or one of his companions on that trip. On the mutants, I can understand they wouldn't be too happy about their Master dying, and could still think he lives, like many do think Elvis lives. It most probably isn't the original Vault Dweller, lest it be between Fallouts 1 & 2, during his lonely travels. And still I can not understand why would he be writing "The Master lives" on a table. Furthermore about the theory of the character in the teaser possibly being the original Vault Dweller, the one sending the postcard could very well be one of his comrades he met on his travels (the wide traveleld Tycho, or perhaps Ian).

But that goes perhaps off-topic already, and I'd deduct the text on the table is written by someone who reveres The Master, and that would most certainly exclude the original Vault Dweller and his companions, and as such, I'd say it was written by a mutant.

Other than that, I'd say it is a joke by the developers :)

I doubt it was a (super) mutant who wrote it. There are very few of them who are smart enough to do so and most of those where killed by the vault dweller.

Ghouls are a possibility, but I would think it was the vault dweller, who wrote it. Perhaps because "the master" lives on in the form of the children of the cathedral or the super mutants -- most likely it was a joke by the graphics guys or someone else who made the video and knows the universe.

If we do get to see the master in all of his gooiness, I'll stop playing the moment I find out. The master is DEAD and should stay dead. There where too many problems with him, for him to live on (psychic powers). A new master would be fine, even one that looks like the old one, but it can't be the same master and he cannot have psychic powers of any kind (basically I'm of the opinion that critters should never have any abilities that a player cannot have).
