Consol? PC? Or both?

Post » Sun May 24, 2009 3:32 pm

Over the years I've switched between consol and PC. Though I would certainly say that I prefer consol over PC because I don't have to worry about upgrading every three years...and I get to play the same games that everybody else does, granted with graphics that aren't as great, but it's a worthy tradeoff.

How about you? Which do you have? Which do you prefer and why? Quality over quantity, but don't make something so highly qualified that it doesn't exist right? 'Cmon gamesas. Let's put SOMETHING out!

Haven't owned a console since the Atari 2600 and never will. No true gamer should ever own one. If it wasn't for consoles we would have better overall games with better quality instead mass produced versions of crap. I'd rather play one good version of something on a PC then see rushed out version 15 of some console program that only works on one type of unit.

Well, PC certainly has the advantage of having, "The most" games, but with all of the money that's in videogaming today, mass-produced versions of crap are becoming more...rare...and therse's just as much crap out for computer as there is for 360... and why is that? i own both, pc and a console and i still consider myself a gamer

again i don't get it how consoles are responsible for crappy games and not the developers. nowadays games are usually published on many systems, you have a choice.
btw. i wonder if you ever played on a console...

pc has advantages as well as consoles do and there is the thing with exclusives - i'm not gonna be able to play MGS4 on a computer or P:T on ps3 (well, it's possible :p)

So, I played in my life Atari, SNES, PSII (i still have this one) and PC games.

I think that what is produced for PCs, have to be for PC only, what is produced for console, maybe can be produced for PC too, but is better no...
The games I saw for PC, produced for console too, normally is a crap thing, they modify the best parts of the PC experience to it work on console. The other way, console to PC normally is a game with some crap modifications made only to shut up people that only play in PC, games made first for console, I always prefer play it on the console, is always better... the same with PC, games made for PC first, always played in PC only.

The gameplay of PC and Console have huge differences for me, I can't imagine for example one real-time Strategy game, made first for PC, that is good for console.

Yup, the only good way to play an RTS on a consol is to purchase an additional mouse and keyboard...which come default on a computer. There have, however, been games for consols that require additional controllers. Obviously, "House of the Dead" and "Time Crisis" come to mind what with the guns and all...but also, "Typing of the Dead" for Dreamcast required a keyboard...

So, bottom line, I think that it would be GENIOUS for gamesas to make V-13 a consol/PC MMO...I believe that, "Final Fantasy XI" was cross-platform...and "Quake III" could be played on the Dreamcast as well as the PC in the same online game. I believe that MMORPG games for consols have great potential...certainly the audience is out there, I work at a game store, and the three top questions I get asked are, "Besides COD4 and Halo 3, what's a great FPS for the 360"; "Can you get World of Warcraft for PS3 or 360"; and upon hearing, "I'm sorry sir/mam, that game is a PC exlusive" the followup is, "Well, is there another game LIKE World of Warcraft for 360?". The closest things are Sega's, "Phantasy Star Online" and Square's, "FFXI"...the demand is out there for sure.

Oh, and the third most asked question is, "I heard that there's gonna be a new Fallout, any idea when that's out?" I don't think that they are referring to gamesas's MMO. Properly hyped and advertised, V-13 could be a crazy runaway success. Quality over quantity, but don't make something so highly qualified that it doesn't exist right? 'Cmon gamesas. The ONLY reason i buy consoles is for certain games that aren't available to pc. PCs will ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS be FAR superior to consoles. Waaaay better detail options, (higher resolutions, anti aliasing, anisotropic filtering etc..) The HUUUge advantage is controls. If your ever going to play first person, mouse and keyboard will destroy anyone ever using a gamepad (assuming they are of equal skill) There are no joysticks available for consoles for such games as descent. Pc networking is MUCH better than console multiplay. The sound cards for these things are better than high end audio receivers. The list goes on. Now as far as cost, the only reason a pc would cost more is if you go to a stupid retail store for one. Don't ever buy an already built pc at a store. The ONLY thing that is ever name brand on them are the cpu. Everything else is the cheapest junkiest grade parts they could find and then charge you 3 times more than there worth. You can buy a PC that will play any of todays games for 500-600 bucks. reguardless of what the so called "experts" in pcs claim, 80% of your pcs performance will be from the video card. Keep in mind by they way, most people are dumb and don't relize too that all of the console games were designed on a pc. plus in additon, most pc versions allow add on levels and mods. Then if you really want you could always buy an xbox 360 controller for your pc. I heard too that the project natal is goind to be compatible with pcs as well.
