Interplay games re-released on 30th October?

Post » Mon May 25, 2009 4:46 pm

Hi there.

I notice that according to Amazon there's a plan to re-release very many gamesas games on the 30th October:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s?ie=UTF8&search-type=ss&index=video-games-uk&field-keywords=gamesas

Including, amazingly, Planescape Torment.

I've called both Atari and Namco and both deny all knowledge - does anyone at gamesas know if this is for real, and if so, who is publishing them?

Many thanks,
John Walker

Those are not being published by us. You might want to talk to Atari UK or Europe, as they have Atari logos on the box covers that I saw.

I hope they come out here in the US... ^_^

Hi! I've just posted this on a new thread, only to find that it had been posted before. Sorry!

Talking about the Planescape Torment re-release, can anyone tell if it's just the same old game, or if it comes with any improvements (better resolution, compatibility with Vista, W7, etc)?

Any chance to see PST on GOG.com, or STEAM?

When it was first released in Spain, I didn't have enough money to buy it, so I had to wait until it was released at a lower price... But this never happened, and I missed the chance to buy it. So I'm really interested in getting an original copy of this acclaimed masterpiece of videogaming.

Greetings.

I'm pretty sure its got absolutely no improvements.

its just a re-release ( more than likely its a pirated copy someone burned ) that gamesas has no control over. hay, "OC" ..... i got something for ya right here! _|_ (^.^) _|_

just speaking the truth ...

i didn't actually look at who was selling it, a lot of times you can figure out if its pirated or not by who is selling it, so i don't know for sure.

... but: random re-release only in the UK, of a wizards of the coast product, and its got the original gamesas box cover for a image. sound like someone selling burnt copies inside reproduced boxes, i was kinda pissed when that happened to me with the copies of the 12 kingdoms i bought. $95 into the pocket of some dike that downloaded it ...

don't take it as fact that it is pirated, but it smelled like it was to me. hay, "OC" ..... i got something for ya right here! _|_ (^.^) _|_

well at amazon it sais it's being sold by "gamesas". so if (some of) my 17 GBP don't go to gamesas's publishers and eventually to gamesas, there's an issue. on other forums people say it's a re-release of the original 4 cd version packed on DVD. Next week i will have it and will be able to confirm that.

also, not buying that chris doesn't know anything about it, sorry.

Amazon probably just grabbed that screenshot from the old compilation that we did publish.

gamesas doesn't have the rights to those games anymore and we cannot publish them.

Atari does have the rights, so it must be them. Amazon is wrong in this case. Not the first time, won't be the last time.

well i just got it, it's 100% original, repacked into DVD and the box has the old cover, it sais "gamesas" and the latast date on it is 1999. so i guess if it's atari that republished it, they didn't print a new cover.

anyway i'm glad i finally own this game.

Well, I guess I'll buy one too. Maybe it's one of the few chances to own it. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for letting us know. One thing though. There are several different new releases for sale there. Did you buy the 4-in-1 Baldur's Gate compilation and, if so, are all games on the 1 DVD or are the expansions on a seperate DVD (or even still on CD)?

eh? no. just Torment.

I have a different 4 in 1 Baldur's Gate Compilation that's 1 DVD with Baldure's Gate 1 & expansion, and 1 DVD Baldur's Gate 2 & expansion. That way you don't have to switch DVDs all the time when you play the expansion, if that's why you're asking. Most probably it's like that.

I would guess that not all 4 can fit into 1 4.7 GB DVD.
