Fallout cities

Since New Vegas is saying that Las Vegas was never bombed and is nearly completely intact and functional, was this intended in the lore when the first 2 games were made? Or would it be completely non-canon?

Tycho from the first Fallout mentions a New Vegas. Something about his father being there.

Oh yeah, forgot about Tycho making that comment, but it doesn't really explain a functional city with electricity, just that some of his family is from that area.

I wonder if the PC for New Vegas will be the Chosen One's kid. The timelines match up too, he'd only be 37.

While i have not read much about new vegas IF they are going to say that vegas was never bombed or vegas rebuilt its self thats just utter lunacy.

1. Vegas would be hit in a nuclear attack via several nukes. so you cant pull the old O the nuke had a malfunction.

2. Its in a friggin desert, where food is scarce. I'm sure IF the area were not a radioactive slagheep some form of small villiage could rebuild given water but not a minor city, much less a major one.
