How would you like Trading to be?

Post » Sat Jun 06, 2009 11:03 am

I would like it if you could just orginize the thing in your invetory options and other people could come up to you and see what you have for sell and you could see what they have and what could be usefull to them.

That way you could avoid being scammed in the prossess and it would seem easier to trade. Also you could ask for this certain item they have and have to bargin with other things you have or money to win it over.

why would you be able to look though my stuff?!
the usual trade should be in place and maybe optional open trade be allowed.

i would also prefer an open economy but i doubt this will ever happened, in any case "auction house" should be in place right away instead of added later due to a popular demand.

To make trade (barter) different than stealing or giving, I would like to see characters laying out the old braham hide and placing the items that they want to trade.

Each side would see what the other is offering and could make deals based on what they want. One would make an offer and the other would have to accept, reject or counter offer. Counter offer would require placing or removing items from your side of hide.
Of course talking is allowed and this would make it more interesting.

I don't like the 'hey, you give me this for that, and they they run away or shoot you after you give them the item.

Being able to see each others inventory should only be available through barter window and even then you should be able to mask what you are carrying by having a simple bag with you in which you can put various stuff.

Maybe if you got the awareness perk (if it will exist) you could be able to see all detailed info on the stuff the character is wearing atm.

other than that I just want a good and clean trading window, easy to navigate and operate in. Image

The standard linked AH to the major cities is needed, perhaps more emphasis on AH's between enemy factions could be used.

Standard trading fuctions between players of course, with a slot for item to be modified and not traded. Also being able to link craftables on trade chat would be a plus.

Trading should be just like bartering in the original Fallout. Two Panels showing each players or NPCs inventory (showing the amount its worth) Then drag the items you want and make an offer. Just like Fallout.

The amount of time spent scrolling through a players bag looking for stuff would be quiet annoying.

Maybe a player could have a section of things they'd be willing to sell and a section of things they wouldn't

I like Dave's idea for trading a lot. More realistic and a heck of a lot more interesting then an auction house. Thinking that you know anything about MMOs because you play WoW. Is like thinking you're a master chef because you work at McDonalds.

I like the idea of "rolling out the brahmin hide", but additionally I think there should be a "Merchant Mode" where your character is capable of acting in the same capacity as an NPC Merchant.

Additionally I would like to see dynamic trade, I love games like Tradewars and Freespace where the best way to make money is to buy and sell goods. Make trading fun instead of a chore.

Basically, if the player can rent a shop, they can just sell things right there. That would make the game more realistic and challenging, which is good.

In fact, it would probably be good to give players a trading level, and have specialist trade classes with access to unique skills and special types of trading bases. For example, if a player is a level 5 mechanic, they could modify their basic workshop into a garage, and then sell special services at that location. Or if a player is a level 5 doctor, they could modify their basic workshop into a clinic. These trading levels should be separate from skill points based skills, but some trading levels would require certain stats and skill levels from skill points based skills.

This would make trading an active and important part of the fallout online world. Also it would be really cool in a guild headquarters scenario, where each player can setup their own type of workshop. When an attacking guild went to war and tried to storm the headquarters, each room in the headquarters would be owned by an opposing player, and they could set their own booby traps or AI defenders in that room based on their trading skills and what rare items they had acquired on their travels.

NPC - thee should be some trading faction in FO, player can put items there for sale ( something slike AH/Market) 0 ofc player should pay fee fro all create sell/but order ane some little fee % for all cash thay get from sell

Players - there should be some trade hub where will be lot of merchants shops. Also player/corp should be able to rent a shop where can sell thay stuff. The rent shop should be like auction, player gives bid and the biggest win. Shop should be rent max to 7 days 1 nad 7 day for get in/out stuff - 5 days for sale. Max 10-20 shops for rent in trade hub.

There shouldn't be like Lineage players private shops ( i think non want see in post nuclear world 1000 shopw in town center)

i am really not a fan of "best way to make money is to buy and sell goods." especially not in wild west kind of setting.
it will only make ppl camp in in non pvp areas and leave the guys looking for glory outside with barhamin shit, unless we can hit those traders somehow.

I don't like the idea of an AH in a post-apocalyptic game. I know it is an important part to MMOs but I don't think it would make much sense in Fallout because you wouldn't give your own hard earned items to a random person before you got anything in return. I know this isn't real, but I want it to be realistic.

so instead you prefer to stand and shout "selling whatever for whatever"(in bold) for a few hours?
because we all like realism

Im pretty sure having a Barter Town esque place would fit the theme. And realism =/= plausable, and Fallout Online wants to suceed it needs to make the game as accessible as possible.

Id like to see more cross faction trading available, maybe the Neutral AH's would be easy to get to and take less of a cut from each sale. Making it more proffitable to trade to the opposing faction.

Disagree with you Steel. We're most likely are going to have an AH because people are lazy. But I would hope its not cross faction. I hope there is no indirect trading between factions at all. Here's why.

Let's say your faction has something that other factions want/need. But they can't get it. They can't buy it in the AH. You can't email it your alts in that faction. The only way for them to get whatever. Is either they cross the wasteland risking being killed or you load up the ol' braham and go to them. Risking death and losing your goods also.

You see where I'm going? Its a risk verses reward thing. If you want to make the big money trading. Then you'd have to take the big risk. Being a trader and wondering the waste could be a lot of fun. Buying here, selling there. Having to keep alert for NPC mobs and bandits.

A cross faction AH would make that type of thing impossible. Thinking that you know anything about MMOs because you play WoW. Is like thinking you're a master chef because you work at McDonalds.

I actually agree with you sentiment and I didnt do a good job at articulating it. I think AHs for MMOs are the best way to commence trade, mailing stuff COD is lame and not necessary and fosters little community.

I also think trading with enemy faction should be lucrative but have a risk. While scaricties of materials becomes problematic because it could punish you for selfish actions of others. Basically the other faction doesnt play nice and your side is short.

What I meant and didnt explain well was this scenario:

Theres a neutral city roughly equally distant from both factions, it is in contested territory. However it charges less for the use of its AH, maybe nothing at all. So you can make a bigger profit but you also risk attacks from the other faction.

So a Jita.......er ........... trading hub city that's not easy to get to. But holds the promise of big profits.

Okay.

I'd still like to have person to person trading. Bartering and haggling is fun. Thinking that you know anything about MMOs because you play WoW. Is like thinking you're a master chef because you work at McDonalds.
